Re: Upgrading parts, downpipe for GTI 1.8 2016 (6c)?

The pendulum mount attaches to the underside of the gearbox and the subframe, its whole purpose is to restrict how much the engine can twist. The engine and gearbox mounts also do this to an extent but they're mainly load bearing and to keep the engine in the car. Video explaining its purpose and wh...

Re: Upgrading parts, downpipe for GTI 1.8 2016 (6c)?

Firstly, welcome to the forum :) I too have just recently started to do some actual power mods and it's also the first car I've done some to. A decat will be an MOT fail if noticed during inspection, if not it will then almost definitely fail emissions. It will also make the exhaust louder and as me...

Re: Advice On Replacement Dampers For 6c GTI

Getting the right shocks and springs is a little bit of a minefield. My 2017MY non sports pack (non magnetic dampers) has the following fitted for reference: PR Code | Part Number Front shocks G74, 6C0 413 031 BQ Front springs L72, 6C0 411 105 C Rear shocks 1JK, 6C0 513 025 AS Rear springs 0YP, 6Q0 ...

6C GTi Res Delete

Decided I wanted a bit more noise out the back to replace the fake noise from the soundaktor. I didn't want to spend the amount for a catback after only recently buying all the parts for a clutch change and front suspension refresh so settled on a resonator delete. The one I went for was the PipeDya...

Re: Problems with Original/Genuine VCP.

As for Chrome, it still detects/says that the website https://vcpwebif.com/ is not secure. https://i.imgur.com/jQiu1FD.jpg Seems it's a certificate issue on the site, likely lapsing at the end of 2023 or early 2024. That will probably be the cause of most of the trouble you were facing. VCP Certifi...

Re: Problems with Original/Genuine VCP.

I know nothing about VCP itself but do know about computers and how Windows has become a less and less user-friendly OS as time goes on. If you're not willing to dig through registry edits, group policy and potentially BIOS settings to prevent updates, then I'd use O&O ShutUp 10 to strip out mos...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels

I have found this now. https://www.vw-group.pl/data/MSDS/G__052527.pdf Version 5 of the gearbox oil - but it is in Polish. Good find :D Translation of relevant specs using Google Translate: Pour point -51 °C Kinematic viscosity: 27.6 mm²/s (40 °C) Method: ASTM D 445 6.1 mm²/s (100 °C) Method: ASTM ...

Re: Thoughts on the usefulness of fuel additive G001770A2

The packaging looks very similar to liqui moly 21281 Pro-Line Direct Injection Cleaner, another injection cleaner additive with PEA. Not saying it is the same thing, they could be both just using the same packaging manufacturer/supplier. I put a can of it the liqui moly stuff through a while ago and...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels

It’s a difficult one. The additives is what makes all the difference Knowing myself I'll research for weeks other options and still do what I did last time and just take the hit of VAG part pricing and get the factory stuff again  The only reason the Red Line stuff stuck out to me was that it'...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels

Just throwing my hat in the ring as I'm due to change my gearbox oil again as the box is coming off for a clutch and flywheel. What do we think of Red Line MT-LV? Opie Oils has it up for £28.99 per 1USqt. Whereas the cheapest G 052 527 A2 I can find from a reputable source is £44.69 a litre. MT-LV L...

Re: Coding for LED number plate lights?

Definitely possible on the 6C without using resitors or "CAN BUS" devices. Just change the load type of the bulb in adaptations in the BCM (Central Electrics 09). You may also be able to dim them if they're too bright but being OE units they should be plug and play. Best course of action w...

Re: Meyle HD vs Lemforder

GTI owners report the inside edge of the tyre being worn out first. 10mm drop. +1 for the inside edge wearing more. I'm still waiting to see what effect the solid rubber Cupra LCA bushes may have on tyre wear. They're also Lemforder arms, so far so good. Thread regarding LCA options: https://www.uk...

Re: Noisy cam phasers on startup (1.8TSi 6C GTi)

Just updating this topic after having the new spool valves and solenoids fitted for some time now. The cold start rattle from the cam phasers is 99% gone so fairly certain my rattling was caused by the intake side spool valve as the ticking persisted while I waited for the replacement valve to arriv...
