Re: Rear screen washer

Mine stopped working. Water dripping from rear left side of car near exhaust. The pipe connector above the rear left side wheel arch in the boot had just decided to come apart ! Jet is not blocked, not been near this connector ever. Re routed the pipe to give more slack around the connector, snapped...

Re: Leak from radiator

Just removed and resealed my Radiator fan thermal switch. The nut is 29mm (I only had a 30mm open ended) sealed by a 22mm aluminium crush washer, the plastic side wall of the radiator has a metal insert. Working from underneath, I removed (dam plastic tabs  ) the double wiring harness bracket t...

No air con

Polo 9n 2005 1.2. Compressor runs, HP pipe to the Condenser gets hot, engine revs do increase, but no Rad fans run. I know the Rad fans work as when the engine coolant gets hot they both cut in. Am I right in thinking the cause could be low refrigerant gas, ie low refrigerant pressure fails to opera...

Re: Intermittent door locking issue?

I assume its a two door as you have not mentioned the rear door operation. If this is the case its one of two possibilities. 1) Both door locks have within a short space of time suffered the very common intermittent problem of failing to electrically release the deadlock. Solution replace the door l...

Re: Polo 9N water ingress spare tyre we'll and back seats

Totally agree had the same issue. Used ARBO seal strip on the body to push against the cluster seal, its about 4mm thick and helps increase the pressure on the light cluster seal. No more water in the boot. The cluster fixing design using a catch on one side and threaded on the other is cheep, but j...

Re: Rear door seals collects water !

Leak cause found. The door rubber seal, just above the door lock, was not attached to the door for about 2cm. Water was running on the outside of the seal from the top of the door and then crossing under the seal and collecting on top of the seal at the base of the door. Door seal attached to the do...

Re: No Dash lights, wont start.

Is the fuse box you were in next to the door at the end of the dashboard with the coloured blade fuses, or one with the big fuses on top of the battery ? If you have not checked the large ones on top of the battery its worth doing as they are known to fatigue crack and can cause intermittent problem...

Just took the old door lock module apart and found the deadlock microswitch contacts are high resistance. Motor and circuit board connections are all fine.

Drivers window switches

Intermittant drivers door window switches not working in most of the four positions for both drivers and passenger windows. Passenger door switch works the passenger window fine. Took the switch apart and found slight contact burning on the circuit board. Cleaned with contact cleaner, improved but n...

Re: Filter change but not oil

Also put a rag on top of the alternator.
If it's the same as a 1.2, the filter is sometimes stuck in the housing. Either leaver out with screwdriver it tap it upside down onto a wooden block.
Given they did not change the filter, makes me wonder what oil they have put in it ?

After stripping the mechanism, greasing, putting it all back together I set about testing the system wit...

Re: Polo twist 05 plate passenger rear door lock issie

Fitted a replacement lock from a VW dismantler and all is now working fine and consistently. :D I first ordered a £17 aftermarket one made by SENCO comfort systems Untitled.jpg , then thought twice about it so also ordered a 2007 one with VW stamped on it from a VW dismantler £45 :| Before deciding ...

Re: Rear door seals collects water !

Had the vehicle and the problem for 2 months. I suspect your thoughts on the cause must be the case. After it rained for about one hour I went out with a torch and look for beads of water. About two weeks ago drips were appearing at the inside top falling on the plastic trim and running towards the ...

Re: Polo twist 05 plate passenger rear door lock issie

Hi, Mine is doing exactly the same. Fortunately I have caught it before the door can not be opened at all. Looks like a problem with the deadlock as the lock works fine when operated from the drivers internal lock/unlock button (don't believe this initiates the deadlock) I have set out to renew the ...

Rear door seals collects water !

After rain, water collects on top of the door seal at the bottom of the door. When the door is opened the water falls out. No damp carpets or excessive condensation on cold mornings. Happens on both rear doors, but one is worse than the other. Have adjusted the striker plates in to the maximum, ther...
