If i disconnect the vacuum hose the car runs ok(ish) Which temp sensor, if any, does the EGR valve take a readin...

When should the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve operate?

When the engine is hot, cold or as required?

I have a 1.4 16v

Thanks.

Speak to your own insurance company. Thinking about it, they may insure an extra car for a couple of days. Sometimes if you have a courtesy car from a dealer, whilst your's is being serviced etc, you have to insure it yourself for that day.
Could be another option?

AFAIK, to tax any car in this country, there has to be a valid insurance certificate for that car. You cannot add another car to an existing policy, and i belive that now, only the registered owner can tax the car. I wouldnt think that a british tax disc would be valid in the WI anyhow? I pressume t...

Hi Simon, So far my car's been back to the VW dealer (under extended warranty) about 4 or 5 times! So far i've had a new coolant temp sensor, new ECU,and a new throttle position potentiometer plus a couple of ECU resets. They wont admit it, but even VW cant solve the problem. I've also had the throt...

Picked car up today, after two days at the local dealers, and they've basically done bugger all!! Car returned with "no fault found" and showing no faults on the ECU I have been told that the fault has been registered with VW, and when they find similar cases, and a fix, then they will con...

Yep - just getting fed up of keep going back now.

If the fix requires money, then i will defo have them do it. But if it's the simple fix as above (hopefully it is) then i will do it myself.

Erratic idle on 16V

Hi all, Problem:- 1999 Mk4 1.4 16V Polo - engine idle speed is erratic on deceleration, and is most noticable when de-clutching to change down for a round-a-bout etc. When clutch is depressed, instead of revs dropping nicely to normal idle speed, engine will only drop to about 1500rpm, then "wa...
