Re: My silly son

Hiya! The comfort control module is a bit of a tricky one - besides the obvious electrics stuff with reversing into a ditch with a bit of water in (darn kids...) there’s a chance the CCM you bought will either need re-coding to match the car, or possibly cheaper is getting a pre-owned ccm that match...

Re: Replacement key

An alternative is finding a good local auto locksmith that has the facilities to clone VW keys. Quite often cheaper than Timpsons - join the VAGCOM group on Facebook and ask around for local autolocksmiths and I imagine someone will put you in touch with a good one for a decent price (that’s how I s...

Re: Genuine VW Polo 9N3 roof rack - auxiliary profiles?

Hi Jody,

I'm looking into purchasing a pair of these second hand and I very much doubt they'll have the rubber profiles you've mentioned. Could you let me know how you've been getting on with yours (a year on!) and if you sorted?

Thanks very much,

Paul

Re: Show me your head unit

That’s unusual that it won’t auto turn off after the key is removed. It looks like quite a common issue when you google it. That said, no real harm if it turns off properly from the HU and isn’t drawing from the battery. Looks really, really smart. Nice work!

Re: Show me your head unit

That’s what I did and it worked fine for me. Hopefully smarter people than me agree that’s the best way forward!

Emailed by Pioneer, not sure about it

Hi All, I’m looking at installing a TS-WX130DA underseat subwoofer. It’s got a low power draw, which is quite neat because it means I don’t have to fight my way through the bulkhead to get to the battery. I emailed Pioneer to confirm all this and they’ve replied that I’m correct, but to hook it up t...

Re: Show me your head unit

Exactly what Alex said - you can feed the usb out of a gap that’s located to the left of the clutch, and lots of trim you hide wiring in. That little shelf is dead handy though!

Show me your head unit

Hiya! The canbus adapter takes care of literally everything, so there’s no need to find any grounding points in that respect. The pioneer head unit has a green handbrake cable, and I connected that to the black ground / earth cable on the back of the unit. I can really recommend the method I mention...

Re: 2006 9N stereo din problem(s)

A 7 inch double din slots in perfectly with no need for a cage or any of that sort of thing. Only important thing to buy is a canbus adapter to fit the stereo properly to your car without the need to mess around with any wiring or fuses. I’ve got a pioneer SPH-230DAB but there’s a few cheaper variat...

Aftermarket stereo turns off when I turn the lights on

If I were you mate I’d take the stereo out, return everything to how it was and drop £75 on a proper canbus adapter to fit to your new stereo. This method doesn’t involve any piggybacking or fuse boxes. 99% of the time what you’re doing works brilliantly, but when it doesn’t you’ve got all this batt...

Changing battery - help please!

This got sorted in quite a cheeky way - the garage around the corner brought the battery around and the bloke thought he’d do a good deed and fit in for me. An hour and a half later, one rusted battery bracket bolt and a lot of swearing he managed to get it off. He said he’s never had a problem taki...

Re: Yet another remote central locking topic!

That’s a brilliant price on the oil mate - and that’s direct from VW? That’s got to be first story ever of something being cheaper from a VW garage. I might grab myself some of that next month. Once the weather improves in Wales (in a hundred years or so when global warming properly kicks in) I migh...

Re: Yet another remote central locking topic!

I can’t blame you for not trying - if it ain’t broke and so on! I’ve had car for just under a year so I could justify giving it a go. If you ever do attempt it just give me a shout :) Do you have much trouble finding spare parts for yours? I still don’t think I’ve found a reliable place to get spare...

Re: Yet another remote central locking topic!

It was surprisingly easy sorting the remote central locking. The hardest bit like anyone in the other threads say is getting the original module out of its cradle. You’ve got to contort the hell out of yourself to pull it out, but that’s by far the most taxing part. You just get the correct comfort ...

Re: Yet another remote central locking topic!

I noted one major omission from replies to the original post... the cup holder :-) PugBrothers did you get your cup holder unstuck and do you have somewhere to put your coffee in the morning? I bloody did mate - all about pressing that tiny white button at the base of the front and using a butter k...
