Re: Apple CarPlay issues on GTI+

I used a paper clip to get the dust out of the port and I couldn’t believe how much came out! I’m using the VW cable (as pictured above) and it’s disconnecting less now but if I go round a bend or a roundabout at speed it will disconnect. So annoying!

Re: Apple CarPlay issues on GTI+

I had the exact same with Android Auto. Your USB port in your phone is likely full of lint. Take a sewing pin or bend a paperclip and carefully dig it out, you'll be shocked how much you pull out! Then the USB cable should snap in more firmly and it won't keep disconnecting when you drive over bump...

Apple CarPlay issues on GTI+

Has anyone else got issues with their Apple CarPlay on the GTI/GTI+? I plug my phone in and sometimes the whole screen will be black, 10 minutes later and Apple CarPlay appears. Then when I'm driving and go over a bump, my phone disconnects. I've tried two different cables and both ports, same issue...

Re: Help! Rear wheel humming noise. Polo GTi

My 3 month year old Polo GTI+ is also making the same noise. I booked it in with my local dealership last week and they said the brake pads were fine and they gave them a clean. Reversed out of the dealership, no noise. Got home and reversed, mooing was back slightly. I woke up the next morning and ...

Re: GTI and GTI plus owners experiences

I’ve had my GTI+ for a week now and I’ve done 366 miles. I got 45.6mpg on my drive home from work today which I think is pretty good. I came from a Polo SE which could easily do 65mpg, I sometimes hit 70mpg but I did ride the clutch a lot. I’ve had my GTI+ in Sports mode since day 1 but the gearbox ...

Re: Number plate holders

I thought all U.K. models already came with holes? Yes, at one point in time, but now you tend to find, at least on UK market VW Group cars, that when you remove the lightly plated screws, like I do before replacing them with stainless steel ones, all there is behind the plates is bear bumper with ...

Re: Number plate holders

I would strong advise against using silicone sealant to stick your plates on. The silicone curing process evolves pure acetic acid (ever smelt that vinegary smell when sealing a sink or shower tray in?), much stronger than uric acid in bird crap that scars paintwork. It'll almost certainly scar you...

Re: Number plate holders

Thanks all, I’ll have a think about what route I want to go down. Out of interest, for those who have 3D gel plates, where did you get yours from?

Number plate holders

Has anyone seen any decent GTI or VW number plate holders? I’m thinking about getting 3D gel plates but I want a decent holder for them as they don’t come with screw holes. I’m not sure how flimsy some of these holders are off eBay!

Re: Dipping Wing Mirror GTI+

I just spoke to the dealer and they confirmed for RHD that it will only dip on L as that’s where the kerb is when you parallel. My road is just an exception then!

Re: Dipping Wing Mirror GTI+

It works on both sides, as VW also make Left hand drive Polo's, so left hand drivers, can dip the right hand mirror. If you set the mirror switch to the right hand mirror, when you put the car into reverse, the right hand mirror will dip. If you put it into the central position, neither will work. ...

Re: Interest rate drop on GTI

My initial thoughts, ( the drive home from the dealer , about 25 miles) were not as positive as yours ! Tyre noise , feel every bump , checked the tyre pressures this morning, they were all 10 psi too hard . Set a them to recommend figures the car is transformed. I was really worried for an hour!!!...

Re: Dipping Wing Mirror GTI+

I didn't unfortunately. Sure I read on here that only the passenger side dips. Ah well! As far as I know, it’s only the nearside mirror that dips, to help you avoid kerbing your near side alloys when parallel parking. Why would you want the offside/ driver’s side mirror to dip? I parallel pa...
