Re: Bridgestone Turanza 18"
Had another puncture as well when accidently running over some metal debris last year so guess I'm just cursed with 3 replacements in 18,000 miles. Never had to replace a single tyre before now. Should maybe count myself lucky to have managed more than 100 miles though MikeDO! The VW dealership not ...

Bridgestone Turanza 18"
Has anyone else had issues with easily damaged sidewalls with the Bridgestone Turanza 005 fitted to the Polo GTI on the 18 inch rims? I've had a small (max. 2 cm diameter) sidewall bulge appear on the passenger rear last year after approx. 12,000 miles. (Only noticed by VW at last service but didn't...

Re: GTI DSG MPG
I get 50 odd plus to the gallon on a dual carriage way run without gunning it, cruising at 70 - think the highest I've seen on the display after a journey of any reasonable length was 59. Stick your foot down and drive like it's stolen and that can easily dip to 18ish though. Combined, I get 350 mil...

Re: Help - Polo 2.0 TSI GTI DSG horrible noise from rear
I get it most mornings as I reverse off my drive but if reversing after driving any distance it doesn't happen - a dab of the brake seems to stop it. Seems to be more pronounced if it's cold. Sort of a cross between a rusty gate hinge, whale mating call and cow mooing. Think I can put up with it tbh.

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
My Polo GTI is history... Got the car back some time just before Christmas, with about £400 of servicing as compensation, with the dealership saying they had found the source of the problem (a faulty sensor that was trapped in some panelling, causing it to give an incorrect read which was failing to...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?
As detailed in the what did you and your polo do today thread I've had a right headache with this. Car's done about 4k miles now and noticed the symptoms of low MPG, burning smell, high fan speed, high idle RPM, loud exhaust a couple of times. Developed a fault with the gearing not shifting up until...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Received an email informing me my GTI is still not fixed. Been in the garage since 25th October.
Keys being handed back as a reject, compensation being sought and complaint being escalated even further if the car is not back with me by the end of this week. Utterly atrocious service.

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
So after taking my GTI in 7 days ago and dumping it on the dealership after three other unsuccessful visits I am still without the car and only got offered a courtesy car from tomorrow. The dealership don't know how to fix the problem (Particle Filter warning message, yellow ECU light, drastically d...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Yeah been doing some reading on it and have to say I'm surprised I have this issue given the journey's I do as like you say the petrol runs hotter and gets up to temps quicker. Three times a week I'll run only 5 miles each way (40mph all the way) two days about 12 miles each way (7 or 8 miles on dua...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Did a drive between Derby and Brewood, Staffs yesterday, about an hour journey, halfway there get a warning message pop up saying "Particle Filter, consult owners manual" along with an amber warning triangle. Car now doesn't want to change gear from 3rd to 4th until I'm doing 43mph and abo...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Latest diagnosis is that the OPF requires regeneration which is the reason the car is idling at 1100rpm and thus causing the engine to rev too high in lower gears. Having only done 4000 miles I'm surprised this would have built up so quickly? Said they could do a forced regen using ODIS which would ...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Another quick update on mine: Took it in again this morning, and only got off the phone at about 4pm with the head mechanic. Says the problem isn't the gearbox, but something Engine Management related. The car is idling at about 1100rpm (which to be honest I hadn't noticed, but does ring true), rath...

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Sit rep: Went down the VW garage at 7.30 this morning, relayed the fault to service desk. Service man asks for a demonstration, so we go out for 5 minutes, I show him the problem, he agrees it's not shifting correctly. Try it in several modes, same result. OK he says, will just need a reset and an a...

Cheers monkeyhanger. That rings true with how mine was running until recently. It's in today so will see what happens with VW.

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Got a '19 Polo GTI, approx. 4k miles on the clock. Recently seen my average fuel consumption drop from touching 40 mpg to struggling to make it 30 mpg. Journey's done are the same and I haven't yet had to touch the aircon enough to make a difference. Have noticed...
