Re: RPM needle drop
I had a similar persistent issue with needle dropping, but I was just living with it. Until last week when it developed a misfire, changed the ingnition coil to sort the misfire and it seems the needle drop has now gone. May be worth a check as I picked up a replacement coil for 18 quid from euros. ...

Re: Steering rack seal
Rum4mo, can't seem to add a picture. I have a screenshot showing part numbers and the models they fit that would be good to add. Do you know how I can add it to the post?

Re: Steering rack seal
I got it from eBay, from a Volkswagen breakers https://ebay.co.uk/usr/stevens_vw_dismantlers Cost just over £50 Inc postage. The customer service was great, they responded so quick and next day delivery as standard. Would definitely recommend them. Used part, came with ends with decent ball joints s...

Re: Steering rack seal
Replaced the steering rack last night. Managed to get access to a lift which made the job a couple of hours. You were correct with it being a TRW rack (part no. 023-0080-051-001). Seems that one rack has about 20 or so corresponding part numbers. For anyone attempting this. We managed to avoiding re...

Re: Steering rack seal
I didn't think it would be that easy to see it. Seems to only be a couple so I'll see if I can get a few quotes in and maybe get the part number from one of those (damn weather means I don't fancy crawling under the car). Probably gonna be the biggest job I have done on the car yet, but doesn't look...

Re: Steering rack seal
Thanks for the reply.
I think I'll look for a replacement then see if it's worth the money to fix. I see there are a few part numbers for it online. Is there any way of knowing the correct one/location of the part number on it? Thanks.

Software for adapting egr
I'm looking for advice on software for adapting egr valve after cleaning. Cleaning has changed the fault code (eml still on) however I believe it now would need adapting to find out if it just needs resetting or if the egr is at fault. Want to know if it's worth paying for the software and cable mys...

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll wait until I have to money to sort it properly. Don't wanna cause any more issues with a bodge.

Clamp on exhaust flexi
Hi guys, My exhaust flexi pipe is blowing badly and want to get it sorted cheaply for the time being. Currently it has a 200mm with welded ends, which if cut would leave me no space to clamp a replacement on. Would there be any issues with me replacing it with a 150mm clamp on Flexi to allow me to l...

Re: Replacing anti-roll bar bushings
Haven't changed them myself, but had a look at them for future reference whilst changing wishbones. Seems like it would be simple enough, two bolts to remove the holder then pull the old one out and replace. Looks like an extension bit would make getting to the bolts easier. Would probably take as l...

Re: Console bushes, orientation.
Got them changed over, took 3 hours for the first side then hour and a half on the other. Whoever put them in last time left both sides sticking out at least 5mm proud and didn't seem to care which way they put them in.

Re: Console bushes, orientation.
Appreciate the help, managed to find a video on YouTube that covers it for me, however its in German. https://youtu.be/npMT9c1U8wQ gave me all the answers I needed. Strangely the German videos all seem to be a lot more descriptive and informational than us Brits. However they do take off the tie rod...

Console bushes, orientation.
Hi guys, am hoping to change my console bushes this weekend, weather permitting that is. I've heard the positioning should be so flat side of the hexagon is horizontal. May be a stupid question, but which way do the voids go, horizontal/vertical? (my logic says vertical, but I'm new to this car stuf...
