G40's weren't fitted with that interior, that's come from a gt or similar

At the end of the air filter housing there is a air temp sensor which cold air travels to the carb but there is a flap which governs this,the flap is operated by a pipe which is attached, but where the other end goes i don't ...

There's a vacuum tube on the base of the carb, almost directly underneath the air filter temp sensor

I won my genuine VAG fuel pump of ebay for 7.50 delivered

Mines a 1.3 with Weber carb / GK inlet manifold, fitted to a 3+E gearbox.

Mine averages 30mpg town stop start

but when you give it stick all the time it goes as low as 23-26 mpg

motorway journey with 50% abuse it got 38mpg

i reckon if you go easy on it, it will hit 45mpg easy enough.
