Re: Strange throttle issue

Does anyone know where ecu receives speed data from? I’m guessing it might be the speedo itself or is their another sensor somewhere?

Also how is it checked?

Strange throttle issue

Car is 2007 1.2 If I blip the throttle whilst the car is rolling say at 30mph the engine revs up way more than it should maybe up to 4500rom and hangs there for for a few seconds and then drops down, it quite disconcerting as you think it’s going to keep revving for ever!! But when the car is statio...

Re: Electric power steering whining

Well the mystery continues, the noise is actually coming from the headlamp unit, looks like it’s the headlight aim adjustment motor. Also I’ve noticed a tapping noise coming from the headlamp on the other side!!! How on earth headlamps can cause so much trouble it a mystery! So today I bit the bulle...

Electric power steering whining

Hello, strange one this! Car is 2007 1.2. My electric power steering pump makes a whining noise but only when the lights are on??????? It’s definitely the pump as the noise comes directly from the pump itself and when I move the steering wheel the pump is quiet when working but noisy in its rest sta...

Re: Lights on warning buzzer

Yes rear doors work fine, both front doors are intermittent but mainly don't work at all.

Can the microswitch be taken off the mechanism or is it buried inside the lock unit?

I wonder if I could source the microswitches from RS spares or Rapid electronics etc ?

Re: Lights on warning buzzer

Ahh, I wondered where the door switch was!

Is it possible this fault has sonthing to do with the passenger door? The passenger door doesn't work with the central locking, I have to unlock it with a key, I can't even open it from the inside, the only way it can be unlocked is with the key.

Lights on warning buzzer

Hello, car is 2007 1.2.

The warning buzzer that sounds when you leave the lights on and then open the door appears to have stopped working. I ran the battery flat today😩

Any ideas would be great 👍🏼

Re: How quickly should a 1.2 reach operating temp?

I suspected that might be the case but I wasn't sure if the temp sensor was sensing the coolant temp and it was the coolant that was taking longer to heat up as it was pure coolant this was giving misleading information to the ecu and gauge and maybe the fuel injection could be running richer than i...

Re: How quickly should a 1.2 reach operating temp?

Ok I see. Checked the actual coolant today using my hydrometer. The coolant seemed quite gloopy and the reading said it was protected to -60deg+!!!!!! Judging by the amount I had to dilute the coolant to get it to -25deg protection I think the cooling system is neat coolant! Doing some research it s...

Re: How quickly should a 1.2 reach operating temp?

Ok so up to 75deg on the gauge the hose shoul be cold and soonish after that the hose will get warm/hot. I suppose VW make the gauge stay still at 90deg to stop it wandering around and freaking owners out, personally I like to see things changing in real time so I can anticipate issues, what's the p...

Re: How quickly should a 1.2 reach operating temp?

Ok I think mine takes longer than 2 miles to warm up to the gauge reading 90deg. The reason I bring it up is that I am a little disappointed with the fuel economy, I drive carefully with economy in mind and I am only achieving 47mpg, mainly A roads with very few stops and rarely going over 55mph. I ...
