1.3l CL Coupe K-Reg does anybody want it

My mum is getting rid of her K reg 1.3L Polo Coupe CL. Body is good, straight. Its white. Its done ~110,000. Engine is OK, gearbox is eating itself. Battery isn't handling the cold weather well. MOT runs out in January, but its sailed through the last 2 MOTs with no work needed.

If you want it, you ...

The car has been mainly stationary, so it must be tracking down the door jam somewhere. Might try sticking some seal on the bottom of the door to stop it from happening.

Wet Carpet

The carpet in the passenger rear footwell has been getting wet recently (dried it out a couple of times, but its come back again)

Today i noticed that there is a small trickly of water over the top of the door sill rubber. The rubber is intact with no splits.

Thats the only place i can think the ...

Wiring Diagram for Polo 1.4 1998 - Still trying to fit alarm

Hi,

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the polo 1.4 CL 1998? I got a genuine polo alarm ages ago, but no fitting instructions. Have tried many sources to get a set but unofrtunately haven't got very far.

So thought if i could get a wiring diagram, the wires should be the same colour as on the ...

Depends on what type of chip is in the key. Mines on a 98 and they said it can't be done, only main dealer. Timpsons even put it in their machine and it wouldn't recognise it. Something about a rolling code chip?

VW have to send off for the code, then have a certain amount of time to program the ...

Alternator charging output

Still having a bit of hassle with my mums car and starting. Battery is flat again!

Now she has killed the battery 4 times by leaving either the lights or radio on.

Last time, i jumped the car and drove it around for about 15 miles. It was fine for a couple of days, but on the third day not enough ...

doesn#t the interior light earth only when the door is open? That way the buzzer should only sound if the interior light is on (door open) and side lights on?

I#ll wire it up and see, then cry when it doesnt work!!

I agree, turning the indicator off is the best idea, but it's my mum were talking about here, and things are never that easy!! She is getting better with it, but there is always the odd time that she'll leave it on.

If you say it won't drain the battery overnight then that should be OK.

Cheers

AFAIK, neat antifreeze freezes quicker than water. As long as you haven't put like 3L of antifreeze in a 3.5L system you should be fine. Usually 50:50 mix is good

Electric window woes!!

When we got our 6n polo (1998) the passanger window didn't operate properly. A gentle whack on the door and all worked fine (probably sticky motor)

Thats worked fine for the past 3 months, but today my wife puts the window down and then it wouldn't go back up properly.

I cam and had a look, and ...

Parking light

My mums has just got a 1993 polo coupe and it seems to have a parking light.

Couple of questions, when the indicator is left on and you turn off the car the parking light comes on. Does it ever go off?

Does it drain the hell out of the battery?

Other than not leaving the indicator on (which my ...

I was thinking about this the other day as my mum is always moaning about her car using too much fuel.

So i'm thinking is it the car, or is it just life!!

Petrol is now expensive, some places £5 a gallon. If your doing lots of stop start town driving then you'll probably be lucky to get 20-25 mpg ...
