Many thanks for your replies which was very helpful. In the end, I really had to rack my brains to figure out the problem as on further investigation, I found that the fan would work when the engine was cold but stopped working when it got up to normal temperature ...

I've got a Mk 5 GTI. Can anyone tell me where the fuse for the engine radiator cooling fan is located? I think its blown & the fan is not working so the engine over-heats when the car is standing still, say in traffic jams.

I'm new to this great forum you have here & was wondering if you can help.
I just bought a Mk 5 GTI and was wondering what is the correct type & grade of gearbox oil for the car. Also, is the level indicator plug easy to locate?
Oh and any ideas where I can get a replacement Owners ...
