mine sometimes has a similar problem, causes the rev counter to go mental, happened after a recent gearbox, driveshaft and cat change, not too much hassle as it only rarely does it. 1400 miles with the only problems being a dodgy exhaust and taillight wiring. either goin back to a Mk3 or gettin a ...

anyone know anything about rev counters? and why sometimes the dial is slow to respond and inaccurately displays the true RPM?

Unusual side effects
would erratic rev counter behaviour and excess vibration be a side effect of a gearbox replacement, just had a 2nd hand one put in as mine died, yet these problems weren't present beforehand. someone has said it could be the clutch slipping, but it was only done 10k ago, and it was fine before
