Re: Time for a change

SRGTD

I've followed your posts about the Clio with interest.

As I commented in my original post, I would have almost certainly gone for the Clio Alpine if I could have got the spec/colour that I wanted. Though I've never had much luck dealing with Arnold Clark sadly!

Time for a change

Much as I've enjoyed my time with my 22 plate Polo Gti, it's time for a change (PCP up this coming September).

Don't want another Polo, as they seem to have got really expensive now. Not like they were cheap before I suppose :D

Only need a smaller car these days, as most of my driving (99%) is on ...

Re: Fast tyre wear

Personally, I don't think the ludicrous high pressures that VW recommend help! It certainly contributed to the premature demise of my front tyres. And that's what the tyre fitter thought as well.

Tyre pressures for 22 plate Gti

I know that this topic has been "done to death" on the forum and I've read through quite a few of the posts. But I thought that I would just tell my story.

The car has had a very slight vibration coming up through the steering wheel for a while now and had started recently to pull ever so slightly ...

After some 2 1/2 years of ownership of my Polo GTI ... I discovered :

Re: Strange Vehicle Setting Notification

I would not worry about this. I've had exactly the same message a few times since I bought my car in Sept 2022. And I just ignore it.

God knows why it does it though!

Mine also at random (maybe every couple of months) switches to "guest" (or what ever its called) profile, rather than my own ...

and now it looks like our wonderful? government in the UK is going to double the VED in the first year for pretty much all ICE cars! To "encourage" us to to buy an electric car. I call BS here!!

The original blades on my 2019 Polo were the worst I've ever had in 60 years of driving. I too replaced them with Bosch Aerotwin. Unbelievable, the difference.
ditto ... same for me. The stock VW wiper blades were terrible even when new!

Maybe there's been a software update. Such is technology these days. So much simpler when your radio etc. just had knobs to twiddle.

Re: Space saver spare wheel.

The moral of this story is... specify it as an option when ordering the car :)
Think it cost me £250 for mine.

Obviously not an applicable comment if buying 2nd hand.

I looked at this when I bought my 2022 Polo GTI and basically (unless things have changed) there isn't any real option for mug guards etc.

Keep the updates coming. Always interesting to hear a real world write up from an actual owner (car tests quite often don't tell the whole story).

Re: I’m no longer a VW owner! 😮

Nice write up.

I had a previous gen RS Clio and quite liked it. Though the DSG in it wasn't one of the best around (I lost all even numbered gears at one point!!!), the box in my current Polo GTI is far superior.
Just a shame that they dropped the RS models from the Renault line up.
