Re: HT Leads/Ignition leads

I have used replacement ones from GSF in the past (£35-£40 IIRC) but they were rubbish, kept arching across leads, the replacement plastic holder didn't fit. I have non-VW ones on mine at the moment but lead 3 is now refusing to stay on for some odd reason....guess time for me to go for some origina...

Re: loose split rims

thanks very much for the response...will give that a go and see how I get on....i don't know for sure but i would probably wager they have been refurbed at some point...given their condition and age....

it's definately the wheel making the noise, i have stuck my spare on and not a sound

loose split rims

I have a terrible noise from my driver side front wheel, just had both front wishbone replaced and noticed there is "play" between the 2 rims on the driver side front wheel...I am happy enough to torque up the rim bolts to see if that cures it but has anybody else had this? I'm pretty sure...

Re: Exhaust Emissions Light

Also worth checking the cables back from the sensor, they are very prone to breaking, especially after gearbox work.

Re: Longest lasting gearbox?

On my first GTi I had the gearbox done at 86k but it was still going strong with over 180k on the clock before some lass rear-ended me in the snow earlier this year...i then brought an Alfa which I kept for about 3 months, nice enough car 'n all but I really missed my GTi so I got rid and got anothe...

As others have said not worth converting the 1.6 Rothe motorsport do a turbo conversion (only about 12,000 euro's fitted!!!) which gives 222ps and 321nm no performance stats for the Polo but they also do an identical Lupo GTi conversion which gave a figure of 0-62 in 6.7secs - hardly worth the cash ...

Think mine might have the same problem - it seems much worse if I've been sitting in traffic for a while?!?!?! my garage said I had a small play in one of the rear bearings - so will get it replaced and see if that cures the noise

boot problem

I was closing my boot when the right hand side arm came off it's connection on the boot lid itself, it was too late to stop the boot closing and it has jammed shut at and nasty angle - i tried to open it but there was a clonk and the boot opening handle now appears to be attached to nothing. My open...
