Loss of power/engine coolant query
Car wasn't driven for 12 months. Hasn't had a service in like 2 years. Car was in limp mode at first. Engine management light and EPC light on. Error said the turbo actuator was stuck so I had to unstick that with a bit of force and WD-40. Did the trick. Got her up and running. Eased her in gently. ...

Re: Servicing
I bet you they will say the new pads were installed correctly so have worn incorrectly and need replacing.
That's another £200+
Hope they don't tell me the discs have rusted up too much/ are scored too much.
I'll be taking them elsewhere to get them done anyway, if I'm ok to drive it away

Re: Servicing
Quoted £465 for a full service at the dealership. Full meaning, oil and filter change. Air filter change. Pollen filter change. Spark plugs change. Overall check of vehicle. Got it down to £303 by opting out of the spark plugs change. Never had a problem with starting up or performance. So willing t...

Re: Brake pad contact
Yes the battery coding is carried out in the CAN-Gateway controller for this model of Polo. What you need to consider is, in the general workshop environment, a lot of these actions have been dumbed down, so "anyone" can carry it out, and as such, your workshop might just have a specific ...

Re: Servicing
After this car has been deep cleaned, consider getting the AC system serviced including a "de-bug", it would probably be a waste of time doing this before getting the interior cleaned up. Could this potentially break the AC on my car? I've heard bad things about people who have gotten AC ...

Re: Brake pad contact
If the workshop has VCDS, as you said they have, they should know how to code in that battery, they will find where to do that in the CAN Gateway controller, just adding a single digit, ie 1 into the existing serial number will sort things out - as long as the battery capacity is the same as the ol...

Re: Engine light & EPC light. Fault code: P00AF
Good stuff :D Once you've got the brake situation sorted "exercise" the actuator with a decent amount of hard acceleration pulls. Odd that there wasn't an accompanying low boost or over-boost code maybe being electric it has a self-test at some point. Also do still get the new battery cod...

Re: Servicing
1. First, the mechanical part (what has been commented for the service and inspection), including the cleaning and removal of rust from the affected parts in the undercarriage (brakes, etc). 2. A deep cleaning of the entire interior for your own health. Including removing, steaming and properly san...

Re: General query concerning VW Polo recalls
I have wondered about safety recalls also. My car was manufactured in 2017 in the Pamplona, Spain factory. I had a crash in 2020 which I'm surprised didn't set the airbags off. It wasn't a big crash. But I was still surprised they didnt go off. It was close to being a write-off with £5300 in repairs...

Re: Servicing
In general terms, we are aware of the very bad practices of many workshops and dealers of all brands throughout the planet (too many I would say - the damn money -). 'Fortunately' there are still very good workshops with high capacities that are very committed to the work they do. The logical thing...

Re: Servicing
I didn't exactly want to do any servicing myself. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to, let alone have the tools and equipment needed (jack stands etc). So ideally I need to take it somewhere for a full service. There's only 25K on the clock. It's a 2017 6C 1.2TSI 90PS But it hasn't been driven ...

Servicing
What do people do for servicing? I'm well overdue for a service so have been thinking about going to the stealership. The thought process being that I don't want a partial service due to some garage not having the right parts. I want a full service with good parts. Looking on VW website for my local...

Re: Engine light & EPC light. Fault code: P00AF
P00AF comes back as a stuck turbo actuator: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/P00AF/000175 However, could be related to the new battery and being sat dead for a while. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/480000-start-stop-error-ecp-and-engine-light-after-not-using-a-car-for-a-bit/ You won'...

Re: Engine light & EPC light. Fault code: P00AF
Get a good battery with the right code After, erase all the codes and run turbo actuator calibration and after that, perform a road test. I've got a decent battery. Same brand and spec as original battery except previous was 59ah and new is 60ah. Just came with no codes as it's an aftermarket batte...

Re: Brake pad contact
Well it failed the MOT as the engine light was on. As well as EPC light, and apparently my nearside headlamp was aiming too high. Strange how headlights move when not in use  I think garage just wanted an extra £40 on top of the MOT. So made up a headlight adjustment. They "cleared" a...
