Re: brake pad wear sensors

No one has answered but I don't know either. I've done 22k miles in my Polo GTI and the brake pads are only half worn according to VW during its service

Re: Tyre advice

@PoloGTInoob; Sorry, can’t recommend specific brands enough of all weather / all season tyres as I’ve never bought them. I have Michelin PS4 (summer tyres) on my GTI+ and they’ve been good IMHO; much better than the factory Bridgestones that were fitted by VW in the factory.

Re: Polo GTI confused gearbox

Wow that's very good MPG, I'm jealous. The most I've had on a drive is just over 50MPG while driving thru Cornwall at ~50 to 60mph. Didn't think 58mpg was possible!

Re: Match vs SEL, Facelift vs not... what to choose?!

If you're looking for a Polo DSG, why not consider the GTI?

Re: erractic fuel consumption

Clutching at straws here but could it be the wind? 60MPG might have been with a 10MPH tailwind, 49MPG with a 10MPH headwind. Otherwise, i cant help but i feel you will struggle to get an answer to this

Just googled and found this: "Headwinds and crosswinds significantly increase aerodynamic drag ...

Yes, it could be this, but its still just a weird experience driving down a straight road at 30mph with the gearbox stuck in 2nd at 4000rpm.

Re: Polo GTI confused gearbox

Wow, you have a GTI and don't accelerate hard :D

No, the usual routes I drive are so congested and the roads are single carriageway, so most of the time it’s only possible to go with the flow of the traffic. IMHO there are limited opportunities to use a GTI to its full potential, so I won’t ...

Polo GTI confused gearbox

I have a 2020 Polo GTI DSG and when you drive normally the gearbox is pretty smooth and slick. However, when I drive it hard I notice major shortcomings.

1) if I accelerate hard eg. 0 to 40mph and then come off the throttle as I need to stop accelerating, the gearbox gets confused and will just sit ...

Re: erractic fuel consumption

Does the car show your average speed? Could be heavier traffic leading to a less efficient speed and more stop start?

Re: Polo GTI "whistle" sound

One thing I should clarify is the sound goes away completely if you turn the engine off and will resume immediately when it's turned back on. But it's not affected by turning the infotainment system on or off, which might rule it out.

Re: Polo GTI "whistle" sound

I wonder if this could be it. It would make sense that the infotainment fan would only come on after I've been driving for a while. It continues when I turn the system off but you'd expect the fan to continue anyway.

Re: Polo GTI "whistle" sound

The fan and AC are off. I had a listen under the bonnet and couldn't hear the noise. I even let the engine warm up so that the engine (radiator) fan came on but couldn't hear it.

Polo GTI "whistle" sound

Hey guys

I posted about this before and no one could hear the sound in my video so im going to try again :D

I have a Polo GTI which is otherwise fine and has just had a minor service (oil change) at VW. However, intermittently, it makes a weird high pitched whining or whistle sound. It only ...
