Mine had something similar, Turned the key to ignition on and all the normal lights came on then turned the key again to start the engine and not a single thing happened... turned out to be the ignition switch?

Ignition Switch that sounds like mate, happened to mine, just stopped working... everything else worked but the engine just would not start.... I managed to change mine myself as vw had never herd of it before and didnt have the right tool that was needed... great... so i made my own and did it ...

1. Disconnect the negative on the battery
2. Straighten your wheels!
3. behind the steering wheel (on the back of it) on each side there is a hole, put a flat blade screwdriver in there and turn it (to knock it off the runner, not to unscrew, this can be quite difficult it took me about 15mins ...

Steering Wheel Spline

Hi... Does anyone know of a way how to remove this as VW have a special tool called a Kukko 204-2 pulley ... or does anyone know where i can get on of these for cheap?... All of this just to replace an ignition switch....

Si... Just tried what you said.. turned the blowers on and then tried to start it and they do go off!!! the radio stays on though... does this mean it could possibly be an ignition switch then... if so whats the damage £ ? can anyone that has a working gti try the blower theory to see if theirs ...

Thats what i cant understand, It starts first time, everytime and has never let me down untill now...So i was thinking imobiliser or somone said about ignition failing

Help... Turn Key Nothing Happens

Just wondering if anyone had experienced this.... Got in the car this morning and opened the door, ffuel pump made the noise that it makes and then put key into ignition and the fuel pump made the noise again (nothing unusuall there) then i turned the ignition so all the lights come on and waited ...

Yer, Mine was the one with 11k miles on and when i went to look at it it had 7k on not 11.... well pleased.. but a year on its now on 17k :(

D-Dub...I have recently put these sill protectors on... im rubbish at all this diy stuff but all i did was make sure i had them aligned dead in the middle of the door and as far back to the rubber as possible and they went on a treat without having to cut them... its ok on our cars because they are ...
