Electric Window Fault a Possible Solution
Hi, I have been trying to fix a problem with a drivers side electric window. I followed the Haynes manual to the letter of the law and diagnosed a failed motor. I bought a replacement motor which did nothing to solve the problem. I went back a step and dignosed a faulty relay again, no fix to the pr...

Central Locking Fault in Hatch
The central locking works on all of my doors except the rear hatch/boot. Despite making sure that the lock is turned to the correct position it simply doesn't work. Can anyone suggest where I should start on the fault finding? My first thoughts were to see if there was any suction coming from the pu...

Just to finish this one off. I have just replace the rear lower arm bush where it mounts into the subframe £9 for the bush at a VW dealer (incidentally Eurocarparts was going to charge£16). I took the lower arm to a local garage to have the new bush pressed into the lowerarm for £5. Problem fixed...

Will the Factory Radio take a CD Changer?
Does anyone know if the factory casette/radio (for a 97P 1.4CL) would take a CD changer? I saw that it was an option when buying the original model but I was wondering if I could save a few quid by buing an autochanger from ebay in order to hook it up to the back of the factory stereo. Unfortunately...

Thanks again. I will remove the lower arm and take it to my local garage to ensure that the bush is inserted correctly. Hopefully this will fix the knock. I have managed to source an anti roll bar and all of the fittings for £25 at a specialist VW breakers. I will keep you posted as to how it goes....

I have also had a go at loading a picture of the joint onto the web. Any thoughts? http://polopictures.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ It appears that the rubber has separated from the outer metal ring that sits inside the lower arm. I have just purchased one for £9 at my local dealer. Is it a diffic...

Gazza, thinkI might have found the culprit. It looks like the lower arm rear mount has given way. The mount has slid off the rubber and is touching the subframe. I have a photo that I would like to email you for confirmation is there any way you could PM me with you address so that I can send it to ...

Gazza, Thanks for the advice having tried everything you suggested I can report the following results. The knock only occurs when decelerating not when accelerating. I have jacked up the front of the car and found that the wheels do not seem to have any play in them (if I am doing this right I turne...

Please Help ! Unknown Knocking Sound
I have just purchased a 97 P 5 door 1.4 CL with 53K on the clock. When I decelerate there is a single knocking sound coming from what sounds like the bottom of the engine compartment but it is hard to tell. At speed (60mph) when decelerating quickly (but not just when braking) the knocking sound is ...
