Re: P0172 running rich

I measured fuel pressure as 4500kPa then switched the engine off. Switched ignition back on so the obd dongle had power. The pressure slowly increased to 10000kPa and was still going up when I restarted and pressure immediately dropped back to 4500kPa. So what is this telling me?

Re: P0172 running rich

Yes I can smell petrol at the oil filler with the engine running. I've now got an obdeleven. What tests can I run?

Re: P0172 running rich

I've renewed the fuel breather valve as I could blow through it both ways. The PCV valve seems ok; I can blow through it one way but not the other. No cracked hoses.
I've noticed the timing chain is noisy all the time, not just when starting. Can it stretch sufficiently to cause a P0172 fault code?

P0172 running rich

2010 tsi with CBZB engine. The engine light is on and I get code P0172, running rich. It can't be that rich as it runs fine and gets 56mpg. So far I've changed air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and first oxygen sensor with no luck. I'm using the free version of Car Scanner on my phone. If I ...

Re: all side lights and tail lights out

No LEDs. No water ingress. One of the rear interior festoons had failed. Would that cause it? Surely not.

Re: all side lights and tail lights out

Thanks iichel, that was it. Lights are controlled by a module fed by one fuse. If that blows you lose half your lights. Replaced it and cleared fault codes and all is good. Although, having said that, a 10A fuse doesn't blow for no reason.

all side lights and tail lights out

Lighting fault indicator came on this morning. Got out to check: both side lights out and both tail lights out. Number plate lights working. Also what sounds like a relay clicking below the steering wheel. Where do I start? Fuse?

daytime running lights

On my 2010 tsi the dipped beams double as daytime running lights so I'm guessing they are going to have to be replaced fairly frequently and fitting uprated bulbs will only make it more frequent. What do people do? Is it worth seeking out long life bulbs?
