All mk5 petrol polo's have exactly the same gearbox. The only differance is the gear ratio's. Also some of the boxes are cable change others are rod operated. The only differance here is that the cable change box has an additional part attached to it.

it should have a sticker in the boot near the spare wheel which will tell you the engine code.

Does anybody know for sure if there is any difference??

yeah mines an ARC 1!! So does anyone no if the gearbox is different? no guessing now coz it could result in me losing lotsa money

Could you please tell me if all the gti gearboxs are the same or do they change with the different engine codes?

If it was standard then £3000 but as its not then maybe a bit less.

It is a bit tight selling it with the gearbox on its way out.

I was thinking of doing it but decided to get it done in the end.

Got a V-reg gti with the gearbox on the way out!! Done 106k so not bad for its 1st box but the timing is rubbish as i was thinking of selling. So should i sell as is and take abit less or pay for box to be reconned and keep another 6-12 months. What is my car worth in its current state, its a 5-door ...

fook me if any1 can change there rad on a gti with air con in an hour then your a better man than me.I was on it for about an hour and was nowhere near getting it out, in fact looked like all i done was made a cupa coffee. Its bolted back together and booked in the garage on thursday!!!

Oh what joy im going to be having in the morning, ive got to change the radiator in the gti!! Have any of you guys done this? if so all ya help and tips would be much appreciated. I have to say it dosent look like a very nice job

wot sort off a job is it to put 1.8turbo engine into a polo(if at all possible) engine mounts and electrics etc? wot sort of cost any ideas anyone?
