Re: Rear brake caliper bracket torque

I've been "here" before when working on an equivalent SEAT, where SEAT just recommend a torque without an extra angle, but VW for exactly the same parts, recommend a much lower torque and an additional angle. Not very good for a motoring group that shares lots of bits! At a guess, I'd thi...

Re: Rear brake caliper bracket torque

It's the 8mm Allen bolts that hold the caliper carrier to the hub.

Autodoc was showing as 75nm so I did it to that and then came across 30nm + 30degrees and wandered which was correct....saying that 30nm + 30 is not very tight at all...

Not sure what to do now as it's all back together...argh..

Rear brake caliper bracket torque

Anybody know the correct torque for these bolts...I've done it up to 75nm as that what autodoc online were suggesting. But now it seems from other places it may be 30nm and 30degrees...Andbody got a definitive answer on this. Am hoping that 75nm is tight enough because car is in use. They didn't tak...

Re: Hub Nut

Yes mate it says they should be renewed and the new joint came with a new nut. I've read similar about it not locking like it should if using original as something is damaged on removal and doesn't have the same locking characteristics. Not sure if it was for easy assembly or not...My thinking is yo...

Re: Hub Nut

Cool I'll be ok with the six sided one then...Yes I torqued as per the haynes 50nm then 45 degrees.. Just wandering why VW chose 12 point nuts then...I heard that because there are more faces theres less chance of rounding with a 12 side than a 6 side hence me wandering whether to get a 12 point one...

Hub Nut

So I replaced a cv joint with an aftermarket part from GSF and the hub nut is only 6 sided..Should I get a 12 point one from the main stealer and change or is the 6 sided one ok?? Any ideas I tried to search but couldn't find an answer and I'm unsure.

Cheers

All wheels had a refurb before I had them and are all in good condition. 1 has an odd mark but that being pick...

Pirelli P Slots Great Tyres

4 Pirelli P Slots 4 x 100 Got them as a stand in while my other wheels came. They've recently been sprayed black (not by me). 2 are in decent condition with minimal marks. 2 have bit more curbing etc although whoever sprayed them sprayed over the top of this so doesn't look to bad. Would be ideal wi...
