they're cool! all smiles had a mk1 polo- they made some carbon end caps for it's bumpers too

are you considering mk1 metal-style bumpers or the later plastic bumpers for replicating in carbon?

i like the idea of carbon wheel spats too!

this is how i timed my car up after changing head gasket in the street!

1- select first gear
2- remove number 1 spark plug
3- using a pen/pencil/non-despript-long-thin thing feel for TDC as you 'rock' the car back and forward. obviously this is when your pen is as high as it gets
4- get an ...

try t-cut first if it's really faded, real carnuba wax gives a nice shine on a straight colour but paint cannot be oxidised cos it has no cutting effect. for a really nice shine: t-cut, then use a regular runny polish, then use i pure carnuba wax buffing between different applications!

bike carbs have several advantages:
-throttle response, from having 1 per cylinder and usually shorter inlet
-technology, weber dcoe carbs have been around since about 1960summat so are not that advanced! consider they can get 150bhp from a 1000cc bike!
-they also are constant velocity type ...

i'm led to believe that the 16v has an aluminium block, where the 8v are iron with an ali head!

with reference to swapping 16v heads and 8v blocks, bear in mind the pistons! my 8v pistons have cutouts for only 2 valves!!

i read in a vw mag that the bottom ends on the 16v are a weak spot; killing ...

the postman dropped off my gsxr carbs a few days ago! the spacing is a little different than i expected, but i was planning on port-matching anyhow so it's not all bad news!

when i put in the 1.4 & 5speed that are stashed in my yard, i'll be chucking them in too!
