After three and a half years with my lovely Polo GTI, I've gone and done it....I've traded it in and got meself a Golf GTI!!

Anyone know how the sales of the new GTI are going so far?

The Used Car section of the VW website now has a good crop of them for sale as used, presumably dealers demo models. All around £14k...take your pick.

I must say...having seen the pics of the new GTI and the spec as in the brochures, I was a bit disappointed, to say the least.

Anyway, was just passing the local dealers, popped in to see when they were getting theirs in to have a look at.........and OMG they had it in!!! :D

So I did the honours ...

Managed to get 325 up to last weekend with a tank full of Optimax. Thats a 'best ever' for me

Also happened to me last summer - started to hear a knocking sound from under the car, which I sorted out using a couple of jubilee clips to secure the pipe back in place.

Took it for its service today and the VW dealers highlighted it as something that will need replacing (along with the cat, and ...

Just had mine done whilst it was in for its annual service. I think this is really bad - my car is hardly high mileage!

1. Symptoms encountered - Occassional belt rubbing/squealing sound from engine.

2. How/Who diagnosed the problem - Diagnosed during my VW Service

3. Any damage or injury ...

I also have this.... on the right hand side only though. I noticed it soon after I bought the car, and assumed it was caused by a slight knock the previous owner had.

Interested to read your post - I've got something similar, but its only started over the past three or four weeks. Mine's very occassional as well.

Hi m8 - I starting having real probs with 1st gear and reverse a few months after having the pedal box done. I'm now the proud owner of a new clutch!

Couldn't convince dealers that there was a link between the work on the pedal box and subsequent gear change problems. There are a few ppl on here ...

Had the clutch replaced
Had a new steering wheel column/airbag slip ring fitted
Having radiator fan replaced as part of a problem with Climatronic

The whole thing has been a complete farce. Have now had my car back ....but they had it for so long that they forgot to do the job I originally brought ...

My GTI is now into the third week of being at the dealers............I'm starting to forget what it looks like!!

I have a love-hate relationship with my GTI.......

I love it for all of the reasons listed by previous posters (blue dashboard lights especially though.....and also when ppl think its a golf gti 8) )

I hate it for being the most unreliable car that I have ever owned, for the amount of money it ...

After being quoted £800 to replace the compressor and £200+ to replace the radiator fan, I asked the dealers to re-diagnose....which they did.

Their second opinion was that I do not need to replace the compressor......just the radiator fan.

I am not pleased with VW, who presemably would have ...
