1.2 tsi motorway
Hi Im thinking of switching from MINI to polo, I mainly want to do short runs with some longer motorway trips including a long haul 250 mile trip every few months or so. Just wondering is a 2009 1.2 TSI capable on the motorway or is the 1.4 SE a better option? Its kind of a choice between a higher 7...

Over £20k and still cloth seats that will look like s**t after a year. Sure do rip us off VW, sure peogots are s**t but they have half leather as standard on the GTIs since 2000.

Re: Pricing a GTI
Well maybe youre right, I mean spending £6000 seems a bit crazy, but on the other hand its clearly a good hobby to have you enjoy, so its not really all about the money. The part that annoys me is dealers dont reflect this blatent manufacturers defect in the price is what I was trying to say, but th...

Re: Pricing a GTI
Yeh it is hard, they're either wrecks or pristine so they're either quite cheap or too expensive. I'm on the verge of getting something else instead to be honest as I want to pay £3000-3500 for something like 70k+ 3dr, silver or black thats in ok condition. Not having a car to look for one doesnt he...

Re: Pricing a GTI
Also just to say I think waiting a while at a higher price will work out in the end because with this sort of car you need someone who wants one rather than someone just getting a car, so its worth to people like me who are looking for one and know a little about it. Anyway good luck with the sale a...

Re: Pricing a GTI
I agree about the price drop. Mine is going up for sale after I finish my to do list and getting all the marks sprayed. In the last 3 months it's had a new box, clutch, belt and pump changed, 4 tyres and new central locking pump and I want £2600. Mine has full history and 71k. There is a red one on...

Re: Pricing a GTI
If thats the red one I have seen its a 5door. I think 5 doors should go for less as they dont look as good, but thats just me. Probably better engines on 4drs. I think £4k for a polo is a lot of money but as time goes on there not exactly dropping because it becomes more classic car based, so in fut...

Re: Top speed issue
least you did it on the motorway, got people doing 60 where I live in rural london haha. Does sound like they havent set up the ratios properly, going from my time with gran turismo 3 :) if you shorten them it would accelerate faster but lose top end speed. So that could have happened. 140 Seems fas...

Re: Top speed issue
I imagine it might have been downhill part of the road where you went faster before, plus how many times? Same road? Same conditions? Its not a fair test as such, so it might do exactly the same speed but it isnt really an accurate way of measuring it. If they have changed your ratios so they are sh...

Re: Another problem
I replaced whole window mech and motor fix pack (forgot that bit now), wasnt as hard as it might seem. Frame was £60 or so, also used that motor fixing pack. Got from vagparts but thats shut down now. It is a bit tricky to do, as you have to take out window but its all possible.

Re: polo gti / dodgy?
Too many miles really for me and too cheap anyway but wanted to check if the grill wasnt standard. Getting a bit annoyed with the amount of overpriced ones, for instance currently theres a black 3dr for £4500 with 63k on the clock, sure its got leather seats but thats rather a lot. especially when y...
