The drivers door on my Polo won't open :shock:

It feels like it's the cable that's gone as it won't open from inside or outside. In the past when I've had this problem in the past I've always managed to remove the panel with the door closed so I could access the lock mechanism and pop the door ...

I'd recommend changing the cambelt, tensioner and water pump before I thought about upgrading the brakes.....As nice as it is to have good brakes, there's no point when the car isn't running because the cambelt's snapped!

As for the fanbelt, you shouldn't need to check the tensioner as it should ...

If I was you I'd ignore GSF or ECP and try a branch of Lloyds motor spares, or Midnight Motors in Wembley. They sell the same stuff as GSF and ECP but at about half the price. I just got oil, air and pollen filters, spark plugs and a cambelt and tensioner kit for £50!

They should be able to tell ...

I got the service parts today and had a good look around the car. When I removed the oil filler cap I noticed that the inside of the rocker cover is thick with oil sludge :shock:

What do people recommend with regards use of engine flush before I change the oil?

Is any particular brand ...

I've just got a Mk4 and the front wings have the dreaded metal worm in the arches. It looks like it's just stonechips that've been left to rust. The front bumper has also had a ding on the O/S/F corner.

I'm gonna try to get hold of some wings and a bumper from a breakers in the same colour, so ...

I looked on Autodata and it only said change if applicable for the fuel and pollen filters. I suppose I should stop being so lazy and go have a look around the car to see!

I've just picked up a 97 Mk4 1.4 on Friday and I'm planning on giving it the mother of all services at work this week before I leave my job (I'm a mechanic so all oils and fluids etc. are free :D )

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the Polo would have a pollen filter and a fuel filter ...
