Hi all,

I've got a 1.4 tdi sport that i'm trying to get through its MOT. Among other issues i've been told the front shocks need replacing because they're leaking. However apparently after ringing round there are no replacement shocks for this model in the country!

Has anybody had this problem ...

Yeah i get that problem a lot. I find it tends to stick on hot air more often when ur really putting ur foot down, but it is quite random. I've been in the car on 2 hour drives when i've literally had to close off the vents as my face was starting to peel...

But then the next day all will be fine!!

So how much do these engine remaps set u back? I've never looked into it assuming they were the wrong side of £500 (i'm a skint student).

Remember the 1.4 tdi is a 3-pot, so whilst i find it nippy enough, the noise is a bit of a let down .

I've never driven a 1.9, but if you're after a bit of oomph, the Polo GT has the same 1.9 tdi as the Fabia Vrs, 130bhp i beleive, insurance could definitely be an issue though!

Can't remember it was a long time ago, something along the lines of vw guaranteed the cambelt up to a certain distance, which mine hadn't yet reached. I was the first owner of the car, and i'd had it for under a year, don't know if that had anything to do with it.

The lack of a haynes manual is so frustrating!!!

Basically, was just wondering if anyone knows where the reservoir for the power steering is on the 1.4 tdi engine. At the moment my power steering is intermittant, with the warning lamp coming on sometimes.

I've bookd it in with my friendly local vw ...

Yup, my 1.4tdi had its cambelt changed at 36K!! All under warantee though, phew.
