the 9n actually does have a pedal mounted master cyl, i've checked it for leaks but not alot more I can do from this end. Also checked the slave cyl (mounted outside the bell housing btw) and there are no leaks. I can feel pressure in the hoses when the clutch is pumped so it probably lets the mast...

I am just guessing here, but it sounds like your garage are playing safe and warning you that the price to fix could reach £400 if the gearbox needs to be removed. I think that the clutch slave cylinder resides inside the bellhousing of the gearbox as will most other parts that might have failed. T...

I'm not wanting to cause dismay, but when I first started to sense that I was not alone with needing to spend lots of time and money on my wife's Polo, I searched the net for Skoda Fabia forums as the Polo 9N was first launched as a Skoda Fabia - so most problems should have turned up as Fabia probl...

Gulp, where do you want to start - sorry but my advice would be to avoid Polo/Ibiza or Fabia as they are all Skodas where it counts most, ie the running gear - this does not include the engines or gearbox though. If you are still intent in wasting your money then some of the known faults are:- ARB p...

It is apparent that the rear wishbone bushes were at fault. There was enough play in them to allow the wheels to move out of alignment whilst under acceleration/decceleration - consequently they didn't sit right for the alignment... All is well now that bushes replaced and tyres replaced AGAIN! Jus...

I thought that back in 2002, all 1.4s and upwards had rear disks - ie only the 1.2s had drums in UK. My wife's car has ESP but I think that it would have been supplied with rear disks even if I had not specified ESP as an option. Correct, all 1.4 engines and above (except 1.9 SDI) came with rear di...

david burton: With the bushes, the steering wheel feels stiffer. But I feel the car a bit safer to drive, in particular when cornering. It doesn't feel like the car is about to run away from my control. But like I said, to complete this suspension upgrade, I'll add the strut brace from Ibiza Cupra ...

Not a definative answer, but, have you not left out some of the original bits that need to be reclaimed and used with the new struts - like the top platform or bearing assembly etc? The new top spring seat is okay but you still need other bits.

Yup, that picture is of the ones that I got fitted to my wife's Polo 1.4SE this week. I think that it is easier to get an independant VAG specialist to fit them - unless you try a Seat dealer - remember these solid bushes are never normally fitted into our style of consoles - this does not mean to s...

Apologies for creating concern. The heated seats actually have VIN listings - but I think the dates were 06/07 ish. No problem, better safe than sorry - I always have a nagging doubt about fitting heaters into car seats - wife wanted them so I included them in the car build (I'm probably just a bit...

I got a bit concerned about this posting as my wife's Polo 2002 but 2003MY has heated cloth covered seats. There is nothing listed for this manufacturing period except the previous Polo/Ibiza problem of the "oops we've used some duff pipe for the servo". Which manufacturing period does the...

The voided bushes allow just enough movement in the suspension for the front wishbone to collide with the aluminium mounting console. A quick tickle with a file and above new parts and hey presto problem solved!!! (I'll try and post some photos):D I asked Powerflex for extra information like "...
