Bulbs

I am going over to France on the weekend and their law states that spare bulbs must be carried.

In Tescos they sell bulb sets with the markings of H1, H4 and H7.

Does anyone know which set i would need for my 9n.

Thanks

I have an 52 plate "S" model.

It has Climatronic A/c, Steel wheels and trims, Elec window and mirrors.
But not Body coloured mirrors, front fogs and split rear seat.

I think you may have the "SE" model.

With Scratch-X you would be there hours trying to remove sanding marks tbh.
Any suggestions on the best product for removing sanding marks by hand ??

Thanks

Hand Wash

Currently i am using Turtlewax Zipwax wash and wax to clean my car.

I was wondering what would be the next stage to polish/wax/protect the paintwork.

I need products that can be used by hand.

wax on, wax off, been practising my technique.

Thanks

Got mine about 2 weeks ago.

Oil and Inspection service guide (step by step).
Engine (Petrol / Diesel)
Heating / AC
Bodywork (Int/Ext)
Electrical
Plus many more sections pretty much a full disassembly guide.

Very good, helps knowing what part is held on with before ripping it off.

Also take out Dipstick before undoing plug to allow air in as the oil flows out.

If you are changing the filter as well this is accessed from under the bonnet,
there is a large black plastic cap with 30mm AF hexagon in front of the engine. Undo this with large shifta spanner and gentle pull out ...

Done mine last weekend.

Found it easier to jack the car up and put on axle stands.

Undo plastic undertray approx. 8 screws.
Slide tray towards rear of car and it will drop down.

You will see the sump a large silver block at bottom of engine.
look at back of sump at rear and you will see sump plug ...

To service or not

I am due a service this month and have had a quote of £120 from local dealer which i assume parts are added on top.

I priced this up myself and parts would cost £37 oil and £5 oil filter.

Is it worth using dealer or DIY ??

My car is 4 1/2 years old, is it worth keeping the service book going ...

You either have to ask your local dealer or get vag-com for Pc and adaptor.

Most places i have looked at charge approx £250 for vag-com, unless anyone knows a cheaper supplier ??

Anyone know other features that can be adjusted or activated ??

Thanks

What about the power steering function.

I find mine a bit too light.. although i do have original wheels and tyres.

Do you know what the ideal setting should be ??

Thanks

Ecu Features

Does anyone know all the features that can be modified either via vag-com or dealer ?

Some i have seen advertised.

Anti-hijack - Locks doors after 10mph / unlocks when keys removed.
Power steering - Adjust resistance.
Single door unlock - 1 press single / 2 presses all doors.

Thanks

Read an article else where that:

505 00 can only be used on older tdis.

505 01 can be used on old and new tdis.

So if i use 505 01 it cannot cause any problems.

Thanks

Went to my local VW Dealer.

He said because my 1.4tdi was not high performance as the pd130 i did not need pd oil (VW 505 01) and suggested a different type (VW 505 00).

As i was only topping up about 1 litre i didnt mind too much.

But i am due a full oil change next month should i use PD oil ...
