need the tailgate stripping down and hose reconected . you might just wanna clean the wire counecters too use either wd40 or a contact cleaner on the unlucky side you might need the termals replacing as they have a tendancy of breaking when they been corroded for a while and you my need a new boot l...

update: was booked in at VW today, basically was told cant see any faults. you can just replace the rubber gasket between the light cluster and the body
will look up the part number when i get back to work on monday

Leave the battery disconnected for a few hours and see if you notice a difference, should reset the ECU no dont do this it will do nothing you need it plugged in to a diagnostic computer. i can garentie it will the temp sender . basicaly its telling the ecu its cold and adjusting the fuel to suit. ...
