cheers BC :D seems my daughter was getting abit heavy handed with the wiper stalk and as you say it needs just a brief push so all sorted...

thanks for your input Alex...im not upto speed on the polo yet and my daughter lives with her mum so im not able to pop out and have a look but a relay as you say i will try first...

Rear Wiper (not switching off as it should)

Hi all...got a little problem with my daughters 1997 1.4cl that when you operate the rear wiper from the steering stalk you can not turn it back off as you should on the stalk...only way to turn the rear wiper off is to switch off the ignition then restart the car and its ok...also she says that ...

if you cant find any sikaflex use tiger seal which is just as good.....used both in the past for sticking side skirts on with and there still stuck on nearly 3 yrs later.............

im not too hot on vw models but ive seen the mk4 refered to as a mk3 ..... the one in the ebay add is a mk5 although its the same shape as a mk4 the bumpers are different as the rear number plate is now located in the bumper and not on the hatch..a few other small changes too like the front bumper ...

im handy with a spanner so serviced it myself......there not hard to work on and ive never worked on one before ...was serviced without a manual so that shows how easy they are to work on....think all the parts including oil came to around £40 trade and about 1.5 hours of my time which included ...

what did you do all together then to the engine when you serviced it? il prob do the exact same and see if that fixes mine. cheers for the update garry, nice one on fixing the car :)

i gave her a full service except for the fuel filter which i will do when i do the clutch......... when i serviced ...

UPDATE............

well took my daughter out for another drive this morning and all is good after my little service to which we have no more juddering whatsoever even though i still have'nt changed the fuel filter (but will change when i get it up in the air to do the clutch) she pulled strong even ...

gave the polo a bit of a service today and discovered whoever serviced it last did a pi$$ poor job....2 of the spark plugs were near on finger tight only....1 plug lead not on properly and the distributor cap had been put on 180 degrees out ...

upon doing a search on here it appears that this is a common problem which nobody seems to have cured........not looked at the daughters car yet but i do know some ford ka's and fiesta's suffered very simular problems and the problems on the fords seem to lay with either the TPS (Throttle Position ...
