you will need to prime if its not already, use plastic primer on bumpers etc... if its primed i usualy rub it down and re prime it. you will know when its enough coats becase it will be the correct colour. :lol: but usualy 2/3 will be enough depending on how you have thinned the paint.

Its not a tall block im pretty sure of that, this one tilts forward like the AEX in my golf.. my other golf has a tall block 1.8L engine that this back, looking at the side view on auto data it looks exactly the same as the AEE/AEX engine could be wrong though

Hi, I have a 1.4L AEX engine and i know the 1.6L AEE engine is a nice easy swap only needing a few diffrent parts.

Does any one know what would be needed if i was to change to the AFT 100BHP Engine? Is the gearbox diffrent? Loom? ECU? etc? Or will most of the AEX engine parts fit. things the ...

They are hydralic lifters, Four things will cause them to tap. Wear to the surface of the cam lobe, Wear to the lifter face, Blocked oil ways and lifter failure. All of which will cause a tapping **More so when cold** So ... im almost certain lifters wouldnt be the cause.

If its anything like the golf/passat, you just take out a little tiny pin on the centre rail and the slide off... my golf ones did anyway

you dont have to do that, its just for the cold air feed, but i highly recomend it, you can stick it down in the wing or something?

Initaly i would say tappits but these engines make a light TICK noise and if it was worn on the surface, the temperature wouldnt effect it.

Piston slap is common on these engines, but thats usualy louder when cold and goes when warm, or at least quietens down. thats more of a rattly knock.
