Simply, yes. Space savers are designed as a temporary device generally, not as a permanent fixture for the car. They are meant to get you a few miles to a garage, or at most a couple of weeks till you get it fixed.

Not sure of the effects of running them but I'd guess handling in the wet would be ...

Oh heck! I'm in for a shock on test drive tomorrow then :P My last car was a 1.1 Rover Metro, four speed. 60 horses when new, probably down to 40 in the 16 years it was on the road. Prodding the accelerator generally led to a lot of noise and about 4mph extra, as lawnmowers and turtles zoomed past ...

Bright red =) looks like it's been well polished, the shine off it was excellent. I'm aiming for about £1000-£1200 for it I think :D ace.

It's not that I'm suspicious of the car so much as suspicious of all car dealers in general :wink:

Advice needed.

Hey everyone, new to the forum. Tomorrow it looks likely I'll be buying a 1998 Polo 1.4 3door, and the dealer is asking £1500 for it. Is it just me or is that a tad overpriced? I'm not sure of the model since it doesn't say on it, but I think it's an L or a CL. It's got about 70,000 on the clock ...
