The thing is the polo gti engine IS mapped for higher RON fuel, using normal 95 stuff in the gti will give lower performance, its designed to run on 98 RON fuel to give its quoted power. V-Power being an extra RON over optimax can only be a good thing as an extra deterrent against knock really too ?

Seems like some of the stations might be lauching it sooner than others..or maybe they did all the change over at my local station after I checke...

Hi Erika I've had the same problem on my gti, the drivers side performs normally but the passenger side has been sticking a bit for a few months now. I just assumed this would be a sticking caliper piston but on removing the caliper found that the brake pad on the passenger side was worn down alot m...

V_Power to replace optimax
I've known about this for a while now and have noticed no one has said anything about it on here, shell are going to replace their optimax fuel with v-power inline with the rest of europe, and its going to be anywhere from 99 to 102 RON, and is officially lauched tomorrow (Wednesday the 23rd). The o...

When I did mine I found it very difficult to get every one of the previous grades scratches out with the new grade, had to go over the rim checking with a strong light each time to make sure, but I still missed some ! had to go back a few grades and start again, a right bloody pain but it was worth ...

The newer AVY engine conforms to certain emmisions regulations (that came in about May 2000) that the earlier ARC doesn't. I don't think there's any physical differences apart from the mapping of the engine, where the AVY engine has a small dip in power the between 3.5 to 4k odd mark to reduce emiss...
