Re: GT TDI Cambelt Change

I had my 2004 TDI changed at 81k miles when I first took ownership. Make sure they change the waterpump at the same time and insist that you get a pump with a metal impeller, not a plastic one.

Re: Front Bumper Removal

I changed both headlights and both sidelights a few months ago, and managed to do it without taking the bumper off. Was a bit of a faff trying to reach, but I managed to get by hand down the side of the engine, to the outside of the headlights without moving anything. Was awkward to reach, but stil...

Re: Front Bumper Removal

pretty crap design on vw's behalve. I guess they want people to go to the main dealers for bulb replacement. There is a lot to fit in the engine compartment but you are right, it could do with a quick-release bracket for the headlight rather than making it a bodywork removal exercise. Once you have...

I've been a member on UKMKIV's for years and seen JoshPolo there, so i've always been aware of this place, just never needed to be a member!

The forum is a really good resource and full of useful info!

I'm new!

Hi all I'm the proud owner of a 2004 1.4 TDI Twist in black. The car is completely original except for a head unit change from the VW Beta radio. I'm going to own this car for as long as the insurance and claims takes to sort themselves out, then hopefully my son will take ownership of this car. Pas...

Re: Front Bumper Removal

The Haynes manual is a good idea. I spend last Sunday changing the nearside headlight and it's fairly straightforward, just make sure that you either have someone helping you when the bumper comes off or you have loads of padding/protection on the floor to save the paintwork of the bumper!
