Finally got to the end of the clutch problems, the guy who put it in didnt align the bearing correctly. as when the other guys who fixed the gearbox took it out seen the problem and fixed it, have it back a few weeks now and its perfecto.

Well i got the bearings done, couldnt afford the whole works. but have to say a great job. now 59000 miles on it lets see how long it lasts:)
the guys said that the rest of the box was fine.
cost 450 euro...

i spoke to a gearbox company here, and they rekon its the bearings alright, they quoted me 450 euro,
but said nothing about reconing the box.
i dont trust these guys.....

Hi guys. Well mine is starting to whine like a b***h. I had 2 mechanics look and they say it could be the dif bearing gone. I did some more investigation today, took the whole clutch pedal and cable off, noticed some ware on the rubber bushing that is attached to the pedal box but not much, cable is free even wen i bend it. got the missus to press the clutch for a few mins and the squeaking noise is definitly now coming ...

just a question tegwin or anyone. is their a clip just behind the bracket where the cable connects to the release fork on the gearbox to hold the cable? i notice a big hole that seems to be missing a bracket or clip of some sort. i know about the one on the firewall thats a big one that clips the ca...

yup i know it should. I took out the new cable today and put in the old one just to see, but nope it was still squeaking. so i greased up all of the new cable and put it back in. tighened up the cable to max and it was smoother. but couldnt leave it that way as the bearing would get damaged. so i lo...

Its a sachs kit with a VW cable.

Ah, i see, ya id do it my self. have had that part of the dash out anyway.

but even though the squeaking is coming from the gearbox side? it could still be the pedel box?
