I say  Buy what YOU like! Fake splits means jack all to me. I have Richmond wheel trims on my other car....which because of the fake wheel nuts i guess makes them 'fake alloys' ;)  I have a set of Lensos BSX which are fake splits, but I like the bolts, looks less bare. When it 'off' position, Push it in (goes in a few mm), and turn it clockwise (as if you were turning the side lights on), then you should be able to pull it out
