Re: 1.2 TSI - turbo to be replaced at 22500 miles
It's still under warranty yeah? If so, don't worry about it. If you think of how many of those turbos are pumped down a production line, you are always going to get production faults, it's a fact of life. Good thing it went into limp mode so it protected the engine, so now, you just get teh replace...

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
^^ That looks great SteveP! Not personally a big fan of the gloss black, though, but they do go well with the GTI's gloss black centre console surrounds. Now that you have a GTI, did you have to change the steering wheel's internal wiring loom, run the two extra wires and recode? Or is it a complete...

Re: New member - 2011 Polo 1.2 TSI
Today I finally wired my retrofitted footwell lights to work properly. They now go on/off and dim in sync with the roof lights like they're supposed to. I just soldered the wires to the front roof light connector's pins 1 and 2. Easy peasy. http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee394/juha_tm/jalkatila...

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Does this mean the buttons from a new golf/rocco mfsw will fit in the polo gti steering wheel? Yes, as will those from a Passat CC for example. As for working with airbags, it's interesting to always see the unfounded fear for them. They aren't rocket science, and as long as you don't suffer from A...

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Don't suppose the buttons can simply be retrofit to the standard flat bottomed gti wheel? Define 'simply'... Yes they can be retrofitted, see e.g: {How-To} Polo 6R MFL nachrüsten (it's in German but it should be all there). I just ordered a set of (2nd hand) buttons for my FB wheel through t...

Re: Change inside lamps of Polo
There are at least three different types of interior lights depending on equipment version. Some of them use different types of bulbs.
If it's the one pictured above, then they're W5W/501.

Re: New member - 2011 Polo 1.2 TSI
You have got such good taste, not only have you got the same car as me, 1.2 TSI 3 door in CW. You have the same Audi exhaust trim and the same VW keyring as me! Strange!! Right back at ya! Just braved the slight drizzle and went out to take some photos of the new led licence plate ...

Re: 1.2 TSI - turbo to be replaced at 22500 miles
What's your driving style like? Like an 80-year old who let's the turbo get its oil flowing before taking off, and spin down before shutting down the engine. Definitely no pizza delivery driving style... TBH, I can't see how driving style could affect the lifespan of a wastegate. The turbocha...

1.2 TSI - turbo to be replaced at 22500 miles
Last week my year-old 2011 1.2 TSI with 22,000 miles lit up the EPC warning light on the instrument panel, and the engine ECU went into limp-mode meaning the engine wouldn't take revs. I managed to limp to a parking place, switched off the engine, then restarted. Warning light went off and the car b...

Re: H+R spring kit
Supposedly H&R are changing to details of the 25/40 springs to 20/35 as they dont drop enough...:L Might be, but my experience from the drop is quite the opposite! The amount of drop is naturally in relation to the weight of the car. Not all Polos weigh the same, so it is in fact fair from H&R to c...

Re: what size are bulbs
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.... Let's have a little listing in the format: [light function (car variation) = bulb type (socket type, if known)]. I've compiled this listing using the owner's manual, workshop manual and http://www.osram.de bulb selector. All rights reversed. All errors deserved. :w...

Re: Shcoks
From personal experience I can say that the H&R 25/40 are perfectly driveable with the standard (non-sport) shocks, but would benefit from shocks with a slightly stiffer rebound damping especially at the front. The spring rates are somewhat higher than standard, so the front of the car tends to boun...

Re: H+R spring kit
Eibach is another good choice! You're quite right. Eibach manufacture the original VW aftermarket lowering springs for the 6R, they're just painted in a different colour and packed in a differently branded box. :) I bought a set of both H&R 25/40 and Eibach 25/30 springs when I ordered my Polo, but...

Re: New member - 2011 Polo 1.2 TSI
Thanks for the comments! :D Was it easy to install them bi-xenon lights?? I don't know. You'd have to ask the guys who installed them at the factory... you know of any good shock absorbers? I drove a standard 6R Polo GTI today, and was well impressed by the performance of those original VW sp...
