This was one of the first things I did to my car ,permanently disable the S/S via OBDeleven.It’s just not necessary in my view,if as said I’m in traffic for any significant time I turn it off manually
No more get in, seat belt on, start car, turn off S/S etc

The wire for the outer handle stays on/with the latch mech,you need to disconnect it from the outside handle by removing the the handle first before you can remove the latch from the door.Once removed you turn the wire 90 degrees and it will come out so you can transfer it to the new unit. You should only need to replace the key itself, The same as if someone lost all their keys ,just get new keys coded to the car.

The bushes need to be the same and as OEM with the flange towards the outer of the car as the bush is designed to work this way around ,ie how you have fitted the first bush
