6N - Rear wiper removal

[Polo 6N] Removing the rear wiper

Download the PDF file for offline reference and printing.

Also, get the reader if you don't have it already:

Image

When you remove the rear wiper on the 1994-1999 Polo, you’ll notice a big cutout in the glass. On later models, this cutout was replaced with a single hole, allowing for the easy fitting of a plug. No such luck for us, though.

We need a bigger piece of plastic to cover the hole up. I ordered a cover from Cult Society, based in Austria. They’re quite well known in the scene as a bunch of dub heads leading the way with an original and very cool style of modifying. As a result of the efforts of the brothers Altendorfer, a whole range of styling products was produced. Visit www.cult-society.com to learn more.

Total time:
Approximately 30 – 45 minutes.

Guru-level:
Low.

Thanks fellas. I am amazed at how much better it looks! Especially viewed from the side - it just accentuates the 'roundness' of the rear. I mean, it looks as if the back is more or less straight from top to bottom, but I just noticed it's really curved, with the roof stopping earlier than I'd imagined.

Hope that makes sense!

Oh, and ignore the filth. It'll be clean tomorrow...

Hey Ice, welcome! From Estonia? I'm impressed, there's members from all over the world here!

Right, ontopic:

The wiper is from the VW Polo Variant, part number: 6K0 955 707 and you'll need the cap that covers the nut: 6N0 955 435 A 01C. There's a chance that the cap is the same as your current one, but it's a cheap part - so you might as well get it.

It's a simple mod on the Mk4 - unbolt your current arm, take the wiper blade out and clip it into the new arm. Refit the arm + blade and you're done. Use some WD40 or similar to make it easier to take off the old arm, mine was rusted in place a bit.

Good luck!
