Thank you for suck a great tutorial!!!!
Will all buttons work? (especially from the right side)

I'm having a OEM MFSW with buttons only on the left, i'm planning to add the right buttons to it.

On the right side, the OK/up/down buttons should work and depending on your head unit, the voice command button should also work.

Jay-Jay wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2017 11:30 am I've been able to install the two extra wires pretty easily with few tricks:
- I took the LIN bus from driver's door connector (T28a, pin16), which is more more easy to reach, instead of connector T73b, pin 17.
- I used fast electric connectors instead of soldering.
Can I please request you to share pictures of the Driver's door connector and where exactly to locate it?

Hello

I have read your post about retrofitting a MFSW on a polo base/trendline. In your post you've indacated that:
- A -
Plug in of a repaire wire to pin 9 on the stalk/clock spring and then connecting to 12V (no 15) on my light switch to illuminate the buttons on the wheel, and...
- B -
Plug another wire to pin 10 on the stalk/clock spring and running it to the BCM, no 17. And then running pin out from 20 & 21 to the stereo/radio deck before programming the MFSW on the BCM via VCDS.

Problem:
I have a Polo Vivo base/trendline (2011- picture attached ) looks similar to Polo 9N3. My BCM model number is 6q2937049f.

Point -A- I followed the process but it doesn't work at all 😢 (illuminate the buttons). I have tested and confirmed that there's power in the wire (pin 9) to the stalk but it doesn't work. Q: Does it not perhaps require a seperate/additional wire to ground it or to 'circulate current'? Does illumination require VCDS programming to work? If so how/why as it this connection does not run via BCM. 👀

Point -B- my BCM looks different to your example, and only has pins 1 to 18 with multiple open slots.

How do I at least resolve point -A-? Before I can even think of -B-

I would highly appreciate your assistance in regard. 🙏🏾😭

Thank you

You're in the 6r section but that's the wrong place for your question

Lol someone here may advise on the right steps. VW family doesn't and shouldn't discriminate based on the variant 😅

Besides I just to know if only no 15 is enough to illuminate the buttons or if I need an extra connection

Sorry for dredging up an old post but after a good search it seems to best suit my aims

I've got a 6R 2012 Match with the standard plastic steering wheel
I've picked up a similar wheel but leather and with the left hand buttons

I need to get the airbag that fits and the airbag loom

Can anyone confirm the if loom needs to match the date of the car (that's what I'm reading from @Jay-Jay 's post below) and it's not matched to the production date of the wheel or airbag?
I'm wondering if I need to order the airbag before I pull the trigger on the loom

What issues would I get if I ended up with the wrong loom?

Its code changes depending on the year of your Polo (to be more precise, depending on the version of connector ring and steering column switch which is related to the car's production date).
This is how it works:
- 5K0971584A for Polo made till 16-05-2011;
- 5K0971584C for Polo made from 16-05-2011 to 23-07-2012;
- 5K0971584D for Polo made from 23-07-2012 onward.

After a clean up of the replacement wheel I've also modded the wheel with some red stitching for shi7s & giggles...

Well this past weekend saw the MFSW fitted and a 9W7 Bluetooth module to go with the CDR510 I fitted at Christmas
Now I need it all coded - Anyone know someone near Wigan who can do it?... alternatively...

I've been looking at OBDELEVEN gen2 - Any views on this?

:)

HI all,

Thanks for the wonderful information. I'm new here.
I have 2011 VW polo 1.2 TSI 6R.
I had been a regular no button steering wheel.
I bought this MFSW and trying to retrofit to my car
Image

I followed every steps closely and it was a success.
However, I have 2 issues,
1) Only 4 buttons working.
On the Right, the only one working is "CC Off" button and it working as a Horn.
On the left, Page left --> Song Previous, Page Right --> Song Next, "OK" button reduce the volume

2) No Light

Based on the reading, I believe it must be something to do with the connector ring.
I would like to confirm it with the seniors here for that.
I am planing to add Cruse Control soon and hope I could use the paddle shifter also.

Here are the rest of the photos.
