Parrot installation 6N2

Post by pvr »

I am planning to install a Parrot unit in this car, is the lead that is mentioned in this forum correct for that 2001 1.4 Match as well? Autoleads SOT-076.

In addition to that, the dealer I am buying the car from (trader), does not have the book. Will the radio "find" it's own code again after putting it back in?

And finally, the radio removal tool mentioned - is that one of these ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CD-RADIO-REMOVAL- ... 286.c0.m14

In my experience radios do not find their code, the code could be scourced from a VW Dealer, unless someone on this board know's different.

When I read some of the posts here, it seems that as long as the radio goes back in the car where it came from - I should not be expecting any problems. Well, I guess I will find out one way or the other soon .. :D

correct- as long as its the original radio for the car, it will pair back together with the ECU and be useable a gain. Turn it on, then turn the ignition on and after a few seconds it will display LEARN

Excellent, thanks for that. Will get that, my car is a 6n2.

Do you happen to know if the audio lead is the correct one as well?

No mate. The 6n2 uses ISO and Mini ISO connections (Mini ISO is for the handsfree etc) so that quadlock one isnt appropriate

Thanks for that. Will look for that one (unless someone has a link to a valid connector).

It just states that the Parrot comes with ISO connectors. I have not got the Parrot kit yet.

Im not sure if you even need a cable mate - the polo has ISO connectors already.

If i remember correctly, they are a passthrough. Id wait and see what it looks like before you buy any leads.

Thanks - after looking at it more, I think you are right. I hope that is the case as I can not find any SOT leads that would be suitable for the 6N2.

Wonder what others are doing for handsfree kits though as I have not been able to find any posts from others about this.

Most have a headunit that incorporates handsfree. I have had two pioneer ones which do this (still have one lol). Before that, I had a seperate handsfree than wired into the handsfree function on the factory head unit which worked quite well, but wasnt as neat as I wanted it to be.

All my other cars have the factory BT kit so this is my first aftermarket attempt for this car. I thought that Parrot was supposed to be a good solution.
