VW polo 9n CD PLAYER and TAPE reader

Post by sephiroth09 »

hi everyone
i just bought my first polo :D !.
The polo is a 2002 9n 1.4 SE 9n .
The guy that had the car, bought the car without cd player, after he took of the radio cassete and replaced it with a cd player(not original).
What i want to do is to restore the originality of the car by taking off the current cd player and adding the orginal cd player and radio cassete. On ebay there are many cd player and radio for vw polo but i don t really know which one is the correct one.can someone help me find the parts number so that i can buy them or link me one? i also would like to know if i need to do some wiring, i allready know that the radio cassete will be easy to install(remove the current cd player and replace with the vw cassete player) becouse all the wiring is there ,but im not sure about the cd player, becouse the car originaly didn t have the vw cd player(the space under the cassete player is empty meybe at the back there are some wire).im also looking to instal the climatronic, cruise control, but ill write i different post for those.

Ps:does any one know a good vw mechanic in london or someone that know how to install radio cassete,cd player, cruise control, fog lights and if possible climatrocis  .

You need a Gamma head unit for your car, and the CD changer that goes with it. Should be easy to fit, remove the old and fit the replacement. The CD changer takes power from the head unit so you should be ok there as well... cruise control is quite simple to fit, just a little fiddly to do. Kits are available on the internet for it, along with various guides which should help you along. Worth giving a go if you're in any way mechanically minded.

Climatronic isn't worth doing if you don't have it already. You need to change various motors and fit sunlight sensors etc, very expensive and not worth it. I've had cars with both fitted and although it's nice, the standard system is pretty good as well.

Whereabouts are you in London? Any local garage should do this stuff for you, with regards to VW stay away from Citygate. Both myself and another member have had grief with them... I use Alan Day as they're pretty good IMO. There's a couple of VW specific places in North London which might be worth a shot but any good independent should suffice.

Yes, that looks like the correct one. Whichever one you buy, make sure you have the radio code as otherwise its just a box of wires...

Which specialist are you using? I'm in North London is all so I might have used them before...

Ah right, there's a place in Cricklewood that's pretty good. Can't remember the name for the life of me though... Another decent independent is the Green Man Garage in North Finchley. Proper men with oily hands in overalls etc.

Should be a simple matter of using VCDS to check whether its the fuel sender or the dash cluster at fault. I'd offer to check it for you but I'm out of town for the next few days...
