Adding sub and amp to RCD510

Post by adzmofo »

Hello!

I'm looking to install a sub and amp to my 2010 Polo GTI. I've currently got the RCD510 head unit with everything else standard. Is there a line out from the head unit i can run to the amp in the boot or will I have to do some modifying and take a feed from one of the speaker outs?

I'd like to keep everything as standard as possible but just with the extra bass :)

Youll need to use a high level convertor/line out to get an RCA for a preout - I had to do that on my RNS510.

One of these http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_265889 will do the job nicely.

Alex, with that, you don't have a remote to shut down the amp ?

On the golf, I took a feed for the remote wire from the boot 12V socket which was ignition powered so it wasn't an issue

There's nothing to stop you running a seperate remote wire to an ignition switched live :)

The RCD510 and the RNS510 can have the Speaker wires set to LINE OUT via VAG-COM (VCDS) (www.Ross-Tech.com)
You just have to wire up RCA cable and connectors to the speaker wires - best to do this via a plug-n-play harness so you don't cut the original wires.
