Polo 9n newbie questions

Post by anilc »

 Hey guys, had my polo for about a year now. Not done anything interesting to it yet.
Audio system atm:
2 x JBL GT4-12's with an Alpine MRP M650

Just purchased 2 12" Type R's and an Alpine MRD-M605

First question: Do you think I can get away with having 1 amp for each sub? they are exactly the same spec

Also bought an 8 farad power cap
Doing the big three upgrade next week but will I need this?

And lastly, looking at doing a boot build, ive seen allot of pics but I wondered if anyone had the dimensions/a template for it?

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes will be fine, your subs req. 500rms combined and your amp is 600rms so will be fine, one amp for both will do? Wont need one per sub!

2. Bin the power cap, its a terrible misconception of ICE, I run 1000wrms and wouldnt use one ever, they drain power and no good, dont even sell it, you wont get nothing for it, please dont put it in :P

3. You wont need the big 3 at that power your running, defo not, maybe upgrade live and earth to a 4awg gauge, but thats for the amp through the car .

Thank you!
In running my jbl gt4 12s on one
I'm guessing it can't do that much damage to run one each?

Thanks for the advice on the powercap
Spent 70 on that! Fml haha

Not doing the ground upgrade will save some pennies though

Thanks again

Yeah them two subs would be perfect off of one amp :)
Well it can as youll be putting far too much power into the speaker, and will blow :L

Alpine MRP M650? £60 ish?

Alpine MRD-M605? £30 ish?

Cap £20 if your lucky?

Jet sound £20 if your lucky?

I had SilentCoat in my Corsa, and honestly was the dogs ball
Paid £40 for a pack and done my two doors and boot with PLENTY to spare
Cant recommend it enough!
When I had the Corsa, I had amazing install with ridiculous bass, and that improved it ridicilously

;D

Can't thank you enough for all the advice

This is a more at specific question so I'm not sure if you'll know but do you or anyone else here know what the best way to sound proof the boot lid?

Not a problem mate, yes, I soundproofed my boot

1st of all, dewiper, too many components, so take the whole mechanism out and the arm and grommet the hole

Then whilse you have the cover trim off (interior boot trim), stick to the back panel, dont just lay it over the gaps, go right to the back metal mate (ie the actual metal boot lid sheet of metal)

:)

very very very easy, remove rear trim by a few screws and pop off, then use one of these to safely pop off the arm

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255216

then a few bolts to remove

so easy

Thanks once again, i can not stress how much i appreciate all the advice!

I've seen a few threads that say filling the boot lid with like loft insulation works a charm as it gets into all the gaps

What are your thoughts on that?
