Polo 9n rear interior panels

Post by MisterC83 »

Evening Guys

I've got a 3 door 9n, what's the procedure to remove the rear panels inside the car to access the rear speakers? Going to be upgrading the front and rear speakers, door panel removal guides seem to be easier to come by!

Thanks

Hello and welcome :)

Before going about removing the rear panels it's wise to buy replacement clips first as they're quite likely to break during removal, part no is 6Q0868243, you can google/ebay that or take it to the dealers. Each panel has 5 clips on it, I bought 10 for peace of mind. Basically start in one corner and pull, you'll see see where the clips are and you'll be able to unclip them one at a time with a strong knife or long nose pliers.

It's the same with the front panels too, except you've got a couple of bolts in the interior door handles to uncover and unscrew first. The clips are the same.

Removing the rear bench is also recommended to give you working room, which is easily removed by folding the backrest down and using a screwdriver in the notch on the outer hinges to 'push' the latch open and release the seat, then it's a case of sliding it off the peg in the middle. It's easier than it sounds.

The above was written assuming it's a 3-door!

Hope this helps!
