Post by exantas »

I have a Skoda 5J with the ugly Green IC with code

Code: Select all

HW: 5J0 920 810 E
   Component: KOMBI H15 0206
with

And I want to change to a maxidot White one. So I bought the following USED IC

Code: Select all

HW: 5J0 920 841 E
   Component: KOMBI H04 0305
and production date of the instrument cluster 09.11.11

I bring the instrument in "vergin mode" - zero km and zero attached keys and try to adapt on my car.

I transfer the VIN/ID, CS and PIN (Power class is not available on the old green cluster) from the old cluster to the "new" one .

I add my existing keys to the new cluster, but the instrument show a message "no key in range".

I do the process all over again but this time I try with a new blank TP24 ID48 Megamos Chip Glass. The TP24 chip is added, but I get the same message on from the IC "no key in range". I scan the chip again and it shows that now is TP23 (I have done the process twice and both times the same result)

Old cluster eeprom is 24C32 but the "new" one is 24C64. Menu functionality with trip button looks 100% functioning. Indication lamps and gages look functioning (oc I can't test Rev and speedo).

I am on a dead end and out of ideas at the moment.
Is there something that someone can propose or the project is a lost cause ?

Thank you for your time

From what you said - you just move immo data , not key data

Have tried to move immo data and then learn the old keys. Instrument shows 0-3 and it wont accept registering the old keys.

It would accept new ID48 chip which is precoded to TP24, for some reason will convert it to TP23. The key count will change to 1-3 but the car won't start. Even when the cluster show 1-3 for registered keys it continues show message (no key in range).

Have tried to move immo data and old keys (not learn them separately) on one go and while program show old keys as registered , IC show 0-3 and the message (no key in range).

some data must be not right if show 0-3
0-3 means - you type 3 keys but non of them is Dealer key , so failed while learning
if you learn new Key - and show 1-3 , that you make new dealer key , and learn success , but because of immo data not right - car cat start

hard to say what is wrong, what you do wrong ... or what device you use
maybe device read data wrong

contact some lock smith to fix this

My car is a Fabia 5j face-lift produced in 2010 and I have the original factory keys with the car that show tp24.

"new" IC is from Fabia car produced in 2011. When tried to adapt a blank new tp24 capsule, and the IC show 1-3, the capsule was shown as tp23 afterwards.

Is it possible that Skoda start using tp23 capsule from year 2011 and that is why new used IC can't see the original to the car keys, when I try to learn them?

Project is stuck for now. I can't find a way to adapt the immo from 5J0 920 841 E cluster with my car.

Even we set the cluster to vergin state and drove the car to local Skoda dealership. When we connect the 5J0 920 841 E cluster on the car, the official Skoda SW couldn't connect to the immo module.

What options do I have now? Is there something more I can try with the IC I have?

Alternatively I have found a 5J0 920 840 E IC which is produced the same year as my car.

I attach images from my current cluster,

the 5J0 920 841E I have now

and this 5J0 920 840 E I am thinking to get.

i recommend to go to good lock smith service to fix it
i can look that and but i need both clusters

The info I can find for the ICs are
Untitled-5j.jpg
Also my IC 810E has 24C32 eeprom
and 841E has 24C64 eeprom

Does this matter in a way that 841E is not compatible to my car?

I understand that I have to go to locksmith. I don't have the experience to move on myself.
I am asking cause I try to understand/collect all the info I can.

It’s not possible to say what are you doing wrong until you will show us step by step(screenshots + detailed description) of your adaptation process.

I don't have access to the software (arbites with its interfaces) any more, so I can't provide any screen image. I described the process the best I could on my first post.

From the original IC we read the VIN/ID, CS and PIN (Power class is not available on the old green cluster).

Could not bring the new IC in service mode from OBD port, so
1. unsoldered the eeprom chip from the IC
2. bring it in service mode on the bench
3. solder the chip back on the IC
4. Connect IC on the car and then through the OBD port and arbites SW I transfer the VIN/ID, CS and PIN (Power class is not available on the old green cluster) from the old cluster to the "new" one .

On every attempt to "add key" in the immo, my existing keys where unsuccessful. The instrument show a message "no key in range" and the count on the IC will always show 0-3.
Even tried to add key with new blank TP24 ID48 Megamos Chip Glass. The TP24 chip was added, count change to 1-3 but IC continue to get the same message on from the IC "no key in range". Scanned the Megamos chip again and it shows that now is TP23 (I have done the process twice and both times the same result).
The car would not even try to start with that chip showed as learned.

Maybe I was missing something or did something wrong. Tried the process nearly 10 different times, but no success.
Since I don't have access to the SW anymore I can only speculate now.

well... you can do 1000psc swap cluster and 1001 will not work
and you need to know how to recognize issue , what data not match, what data need ECU maybe synchronize , maybe software corrupted ...nobody know
even if you do all like step by step - is not like monkey job

I don't have installed a MFD cluster yet in my car (I will update the thread when I have some progress), but my mind is already on the next change for the car.

I want to install cruise control on my model 2011 Fabia 5J 1.2 TSI, and I am collecting the parts that I think I will need.
My car came with trip computer stalk 6Q0 953 503 DQ
Image

but the only reasonably priced new OEM kit that I could find was one that is including 6Q0 953 513 AL
Image

Instead of finding a stalk with cruise control and trip buttons, I am thinking to install a MFSW from an 2010-11 Octavia or Superb that has the trips function buttons on the steering
Image

But I am also thinking, is it possible to fit a steering wheel from a later model fabia 5J instead ?
90825db84ca1959dc4679a82afcc.jpg

More specifically, will the existing slip ring (6Q0 959 653 B) work with the new type of steering wheel?
I try to find the connector type and the pin out for the newer type of steering wheels but elsawin I have access to, has no data for cars after 2013.

Does anybody with more up to date elsa win can pull the diagram for me ?

Here is the diagram for my car

Thanks in advance

On the later model MFSW matter, I did some research on internet and ETKA/ElsaWin.

5J FL Fabia came with 4 interchangeable slip ring models:

Code: Select all

>>27.05.2012
6Q0 959 653 B
6Q0 959 654 D (for ESP)

28.5.2012>>
6R0 959 653
6R0 959 654 (for ESP)

>>09.12.2013
6Q0 959 653 B
6Q0 959 654 D (for ESP)

09.12.2013>>
6R0 959 653
6R0 959 654 (for ESP)
I have a read about a user where he has successfully retrofitted a old style MFSW while on Fabia with 6Q0 959 653 B slip ring
Image

Also I read about a user who retrofitted MFSW buttons on a car that came with 6Q0 959 654 D, using airbag wiring loom with part# 5E0971584A
Image

So I come to the conclusion that 6Q0 959 653 B might/should work with 5E0971584A airbag cable. Now I have to actually verify it on my car.

In the process, I found out that:

[*]Not all button models from new style steering wheel will work on 5J FL Fabia.
From this post https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/4 ... nt=4862593
I came to the conclusion that it has to be one of the followings

Code: Select all

- 5E0919719C (Fabia2, Rapid, Roomster)
- 5E0919719D (Fabia2, Roomster)
- 5E0919719E (Rapid, MK2 FL Superb, FL Yeti)
- 5E0919719F (Rapid, MK2 FL Superb, FL Yeti)
- 5E0919719G (MK2 FL Superb, FL Yeti)
[*]The buttons on the right side of the steering wheel will function as replacement of the trips buttons on the wipers stalk, only if the car has a Maxi Dot IC.
If the car has the lower spec green screen, the trips buttons on the wipers stalk is the only way to go through the indications on the IC.

Once again, all my conclusions/notes are theoretical to this point and I will have to verify them on my car, in order to confirm them.

Does anybody know a way to identify where cable junctions are located in the car? I am talking about junctions like B528,B320 etc
mfsw-diagram.jpg
Are these locations available somewhere in ElsaWin? Or maybe some other source ?
