Prices & specifications announced: VW accepting orders

Post by dxg »

Interestingly, sounds like the "GT" nomenclature has been dropped, with the engine now available as a normal Sport (presumably badged TDI - all red?)
Volkswagen wrote:Volkswagen has announced recommended retail prices for the new Polo, which start at £7,495 on the road. The latest generation of Volkswagen’s supermini, which goes on sale on 10 June, will be available with a wide choice of engines and trim levels, with either three or five doors.

The range starts with the E 1.2-litre 55 PS 3-door, moving up through the S and SE, and finishing with the range-topping Sport, which features a choice of powerful petrol and diesel engines including a 1.9-litre TDI 130 PS.

The S model offers particular value for money, and is expected to be the best-selling trim level in the new range. Starting at £8,850 RRP on the road, this model includes as standard the following specification: Climatic semi-automatic climate control; alloy wheels; electric front windows; electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors; front fog lights; central locking; CD player; body-coloured side bump strips, door mirrors and door handles; plus ABS (anti-lock braking system).

Unveiled at the Leipzig Motor Show in April, the new Polo is set to continue the success of Volkswagen’s high quality supermini, with new styling at the front and rear.

Externally, the newcomer’s most striking feature is its new frontal design, with a bold ‘V’ shaped grille which extends into the bonnet and up to the base of the A-pillars. The new grille gives the Polo a more upmarket, mature character.

New headlights with a shape similar to that featured on the new Passat are also used on the Polo, while the indicator repeaters have been relocated into the door mirror housings for enhanced visibility. The rear of the Polo has also been revised, with a new look that follows trends set by recent Volkswagen design.

Two new Euro 4-compliant diesel engines are available with the new Polo, both variants of the outgoing – and award winning – 1.4-litre TDI 75 PS. Replacing the 1.9-litre SDI 64 PS, the new 1.4-litre TDI 70 PS is a more advanced unit than its predecessor, with unit injector technology and variable geometry turbocharging. In addition, a new 1.4-litre TDI 80 PS unit replaces the 75 PS engine of the previous Polo. In total, five petrol and four diesel engines are available with the new model.

The new Polo is one of the safest and toughest cars in its sector, with high levels of body rigidity, ABS with HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist); plus driver and front passenger airbags included with every model. ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme); side airbags and curtain airbags are all available as options across the range.

The new Polo is available to order now from Volkswagen Retailers, ahead of its official launch date in June.

yes, the GT is unique......

looking at the specs, the 'S' model looks very well specc'd up , fully color coded all round, front fogs etc. as standard.
