Bonnet relay broken can't open bonnet. HELP!!!

Post by sm57ruo »

Hi I have a polo 1.4tdi 2007 the bonnet relay is broken, so I can't pop the bonnet. Any other way to get the bonnet opened.

Thanks in advance!

When you say broken do you mean the lever is buggered or the cable has snapped? If the lever is broken you could remove it and pull the wire behind it hard with a pair of pliers. Failing that, if you remove the grill you should be able to release the bonnet catches from there!

Seems like the wire has snapped cause the lever doesn’t pull anything. I’ll need to open the bonnet to take the grill off won’t I?

That’s a real pain mate. Normally, yes, you’d have to open the bonnet but judging by what’s said in other topics you might be faced with pulling the grill out caveman-style. Let me know how you got on!

Just as a point of reference: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jmX4Y0OiOxs at least this gives you a bit of context of where to tug!
