Tyre sizes
Hello all....my daughter has recently purchased a lovely little polo 1.4 match 80hp 5 door in a light blue colour. Today I went out to clean the alloys for her and noticed that the front tyres are a different size to the rear ones. The fronts are 195/55 R15 but the rears are 195/50 R15. Can anyone tell me if this is an incorrect fitment or is this correct for this car ? Any help greatly received....many thanks and keep up the good work on here people

Re: Tyre sizes
Anybody ??
Re: Tyre sizes
Should be the same, but not dangerous,
Re: Tyre sizes
I've got 50s all round on mine I had some left over from my MX-5, and they're fine. It should have 55s on officially. It's not right but I think would only be a problem if you had different sizes on the same axle.

Re: Tyre sizes
I stuck with the original size on my wife's 2002 Polo 1.4 16V SE, but later VW started sending out cars, maybe including this later version with the "other" size of 15" tyres on some maybe "specials" versions.
At that time sometime in 2007 or so, the "new" size was always cheaper than the original size and so many people changed to the cheaper size of tyre as the cars got older.
In short what you have is okay as long as you stick with them on the same axle, maybe check new tyre prices to see what you need to change to if/when you next need new tyres.
