Ignition Light

Post by Buzyizzy »

Hi
Ever since I bought my Polo 16 months ago, I’ve been curious to know what the ignition warning light is that’s a picture of a car with a key underneath?
I wondered if it’s related to the cat, or what is it?
Would love to know.
TIA

Welcome to the forum

The light I think you're talking about is the immobiliser light.

If it stays lit when you turn your ignition on it means the immobiliser is active which if you used the correct key isn't good news as it could mean the connection between the instrument cluster and key reader has gone bad. I had this on an old polo and simply removing the key and trying again seemed to work but it was definitely not a fix.

Anything emissions-related will trigger the Engine Management Light.

Hope that helps :)
